Zaeeda-ELJ-# Week 2 Day 5 (It's Good Friday)

Week 2 Day 5 (It's Good Friday)
Last day of doing the Easter learning journey, I have to say the first activity was really cool and I enjoyed it.  School starting in a few days and Isolation is still happening too, let's stay strong.

Activity 1: Hope
For this task we had to create a poster of 2 things we hoped for today.

Well I hope that school will start up again soon and we will still have most of our events on and I also hope that the lock down would end son. This is because isolation has made it really suffocating, and if you know me. You'd know that me and my family travel a LOT!

Extra Activity
For this task we had to imagine we could send a text to anyone in Glen Innes. We also had to choose 3 emojis to describe.

 👌   😜   🎨

If I could send a text to someone it would be Stay Home and Stay safe cause that's exactly what we need to do. And well there isn't much else we need to do other than practicing good hygiene.

This week was lots of fun and I can't wait for school to start up again, soon. S T A Y  S A F E and Stay Home!

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Week 2 Day 4 (Special time at Easter)

Week 2 Day 4 (Special time at Easter)
It's the second to last day of the ELJ, we have 2  tasks to complete today, so let's work hard. We may be in Isolation but I just wanted to say HAPPY EASTER!

Activity 1
The first activity required us to share what our family normally do during Easter. Share whether or not it's different from Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Usually me and my family wake up in the morning and have a big breakfast. This usually has something to do with chocolate pancakes and strawberries. My aunty makes the best pancakes every year with her homemade whipped cream. It's always delicious.

We then get ready pack some food, bucket/spades and sunscreen, because we were going to spend the whole day at the beach. There we'd meet some of our other relatives, there's usually 30-40 people there. It's was always a lot of fun at the beach we go swimming look for crabs and so much more.

But before we came home we have a HUGE picnic each family would have to bring something to share. We would arrive home late after watching the sunset, and after the somewhat tiring day the still hyper children would do an easter hunt. Thus letting us end the day playing, chatting and eating CHOCOLATE!

Activity 2
Document what you did in this year during Easter. It would've been a little bit different since isolation and everything is happening. Choose to share this in any form you want.

Here is what we are doing this Easter. It's not what we usually do, and It's nowhere near as fun as spending the day at the beach. But it's isolation and things are different so it's okay and definitely something, so I'm happy.

Zaeeda-ELJ- #Week 2 Day 3 (Let's Start Traveling)

Week 2 day 3 (Let's Start Traveling)
We are 3 days into the second week. Let's start today activities we have 2 tasks to complete. It's also the last week of the holidays so starting next week we will be having online classes.

Activity 1
For this task we had imagine we were going to travel another country. We then had to create a travel guide for the country our family connects to.
Activity 2
For this task we had to think about if we were to go on the trip to the country. We then had to choose two people to take on the trip, with us.

Even though my family is made up of 5 people. If I choose 2 people to take on the trip with me. I'd take my mum and older sister.

Firstly my mother usually goes on the trips to Fiji, and when she does Zaria my younger sister gets taken. So if me and my older sister went we'd be able to see my one year old niece. It would be nice is me and my sister went and left my dad and Zaria behind.

I'd take my mum, because she lived in Fiji half her life. And if we did go, we would probably stay with my grandmother a.k.a my mother mum. It would also be nice for my mum to visit Fiji without having to go places, plan something and or be occupied with a job.

So that's why I would take those to people.

That concludes day 3 of week 2. I hope you enjoyed, I definitely did. I found this week a bit harder than last week, but I always love a challenge so this was fun.

Week 2 day 2
We are still in isolation and but we are on the second to last week of isolation, so let stay strong and keep going. Also we have 3 tasks to complete so let's do it.

Activity 1
The first task required us to list the countries out family related to, for me it's Fiji. We then had to research that country, so the population official language and flag.

Activity 2: Family Capital

For this task we had to use our whakapapa from yesterday and create a map of the countries our family are connected to.
Here is my family capital, which is Fiji. This is because most of my family that goes back around 15 generations in Fiji. But me, my siblings and, my cousins are born here in Auckland, New Zealand.

Zaeeda-ELJ- #Week 2 Day 1 (Whakapapa)

Day:1
Week:2
Welcome back to the second and last week of the summer learning journey. Isolation is still happening and will be for another 2 weeks but let's make this work and try and have some fun!

Activities: Family Tree
For this task we had to make a family tree. We can expand our tree to include our siblings and our parents siblings. After we had completed the tree, we had to fill in the names and places we then had to write the culture of that person.

Here is my family tree, it includes my maternal and paternal grand-parents. I also included my mum and dads siblings. I have 2 uncles on my mothers side. My dad side has around 12 siblings, as he has a 2 step families, so I included the ones see more often. At the bottom you have me and my siblings. And as you can see my whole family is made up of Fiji Indians, but the wife of my uncle Albert is Samoan.

That brings us to an end of this week. I enjoyed this task and it happens to be the biggest family tree I've made, I usually just stick to my grand-parents, parents and siblings.

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Day 5 (It's Friday)

Day: 5 (It's Friday)
Well we've officially finished a week of the summer learning journey and there is only one more week

Activity
For this task we had to find three different quotes from our family that we found helpful. We then had to share and explain these quotes on our blog.

The first quote is based on us facing Corona virus, it's about how this is a tough challenge. And we have been faced with this challenge because it is believed that we can overcome it. It also mildly relates to how we should stick together and get through this together.

This one isn't as poet is the last one. But I found that it was quote emotional. It's basically means it's okay to show you are scared as long as you are able to somewhat work through it. My little sister was the one that actually said this, and it wasn't even to one of our family members it was to one of her toys.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this one before. My mum probably read it in a magazine or something, because this one seems familiar. I guess it's about seeing the silver line in any situation and that we'll be okay soon.

Extra Activity
For this activity we had to come up with a text that we would send to everybody in New Zealand, right now.

Here is my text, it's not to long. But I hope that it will help some New Zealanders have comfort.

Especially since we have to be apart, sending something somewhat heart-warming will hopefully keep us together. At a time like this anything is good, and should be done. Also I already have said this to most of the people and I just want you guys to stay safe take care and wash your hands!

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Day 4 (Back Home For A Moment)

Day: 4 (Back Home For A Moment)
Here is day 4 I enjoyed doing it. I did struggle with getting the exact length and width measurement of my house, but I did get it eventually. This task was fun to do cause it really made me look at ways that different houses and buildings can be improved to and not just my house.

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Day 3 (Let's Start Traveling)

Day: 3 (Let's Start Traveling)
Day 3 has arrived we have 2 activities to complete so let's try our best to complete them!

Activity 1
For this activity we have learn about Tane Mahuta, Rangitoto island and Karekare. We then had to pinpoint where three of the different destinations are, on a map.

Activity 2
After that we had to choose our favourite destination and post on our blog why we enjoyed visiting that place, and what we did there.

My favourite out of the three destination is Rangitoto Island. It looks amazing in the pictures and being in a city surrounded by 50 volcanoes. Rangitoto being the biggest and youngest of them all. It's also close to the city and on an island.

That brings us to an end of day 3. Today was fun and I liked the first activity it was really fun. I'm really enjoying these next 2 weeks, I can't wait to do more. HAPPY APRIL FOOLS AND FIRST OF APRIL!

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Day 2 (Never Lose Hope)

Day: 2 (Never Lose Hope)
Welcome to day to, I decided to mix it up and do it a little differently today. We have 2 activities to complete today so let's do them well. Like always they all have something to do with NZ. I'v been looking forward to doing more so let's start!

Activity 1 & 2: Our New Zealand Flag
For this task we had redesign the New Zealand flag. Our original flag was made in 1902 it's 115 years old. So it's been with us a while. Our New Flag must have the minor ability to spread hope throughout New Zealand as we continue the fight with COVID-19.

Here is the original New Zealand flag, it's got the union jack on the top left and on the right are 4 star that represent the southern cross. This however is not our first flag. This flag has belonged to our country for a long time. However many people have mistaken our flag for the Australian flag, and because of that people have tried to replace this flags many times.

Here is the redesigned version. The colour scheme changed from blue white and red to black and white. I changed the design quite a bit because our original flag looks very similar to other flags. The fern on the left represents the natural wonders of New Zealand. The southern cross is in the original so I just changed the colour, I wanted to keep something from the original. The last thing on the flag is a very simple map of New Zealand. I wouldn't even call it a map,it's basically just the shape of NZ. On most old maps New Zealand isn't on it or is said to be part of Australia. I think that this would be a good way to show that we aren't apart of Australia, but our own country!

The flag above was inspired by this black and white flag, I made in 2017. And the colour scheme of this flag was inspired by the all blacks, and the anchor represents Auckland the City of Sails. I think is was okay, for a 9 year old. But looking back at it, I don't see how it relate to all of New Zealand. It's more of a flag you would use while sailing or something. I think the newer flag is much more of and improvement.

I think that the redesigned version would make a great flag, and would definitely remind Kiwis that NZ is a great place, and we will make it through hard times. We are one family and we are working to defeat this pandemic.

That brings us to an end of day 2. I think that this might've been my favourite day of all not just because of the number of tasks. I really enjoyed redesigning the the New Zealand flag. Even though I like it the way it is. It's really fun being creative and letting our ideas flow because the possibilities were endless.

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Day 1 (Kia Ora)

Since it's the holidays and this one came a bit early, The teachers decided to give us ways to keep learning during the holidays. It's also a way to be entertained, while we got into isolation. I had fun in day one all the tasks had something to do with NZ and I can't waiting to do more!
