Career Talk

Hi there, today after morning tea we had 3 people come and talk to us about there careers. The thing that was quite funny was the fact that they we some how related to Mrs Tele'a. The people that came were Tanielu Tele'a, Fiona Bakulich, Jason Young. This is because we are learning about ourselves and family and our past present and future and in the future in we are going to have careers so that's what the 3 people talked about.

Jason Young is a builder, he is friends with Mr Tele'a. He came to Pt England quite a few years ago, he talked to us about following our passion and setting a goal but also trying out new things everyday. Jason told us that when he was at Point England and the school was so different and where he was standing now use to be a dental clinic. We asked him a few questions like about his life and things he faced during life.

The second person was Fiona Bakulich she is Mrs Tele'a's sister. They grew up and spent most of there lives in Mangere, they went to school there and lived there so that was there local community. For Fiona's career she decided to take up funeral directing like her parents. Fiona told us about how she used to help with bodies of loved ones and do things like that and learnt not to be scared and just doing it with love and respect for the families. Fiona told us that she finish college or university. She decided on becoming a funeral director because that's what her parent did and she didn't want her parents working to hard and to many hours so she did it for her family.

The last person to talk to us was Tanielu Tele'a, the son of Mrs Tele'a and also a blues player. Tanielu once came to Point England school he told us that he loved playing sport at lunch and doing work in class. We asked hime loads of questions about his career what he want to do in the future and how he felt about becoming a blues player. He also gave us advice to love our parents and take the advice they gives us.

After they were all done we said thank you and gave them a present and we moved off to our classes. Overall I had loads of fun and will definetly take this advice and try to see how I can do this in my everyday life. I am really thankful to her about other peoples experience and also the challenges they faced.

My Dad Is Crazy

Today something really weird happened. My dad decided to give my mum a bit of a suprise as you may or may not know my mum and little sister went to fiji. They had loads of fun with my new baby neice more about her later. Anyways my dad is a mechanic and he was fixing trucks for this army company thing.

The company had shut down do to other things. I am not really sure what the reason is or anything but I do know that they got bankrupt. So my dad was fixing one of there trucks and the person that own the truck tell my dad about buying a jeep truck thingy. I don't know why or anything but my dad decided to take it for $14,000. YES I know what your think this guy must be rich and crazy!

Back to the story on the night my mum came back he parked it in our yard but my mum doesn't even know it ours. My dad won't tell her because he thinks she's going to wash it, another reason is that she will most likely flip a bit like I did. So my dad has told my mum a lie and we are all keeping it a secret but the thing is we are going to tell her at the end of this month.

I am kind of curious about what's been happening and so on. I will let you know and keep you posted about whats happening!

Food Tech

Today we had food tech again at Tamaki college. It was very fun this week we made something with mince meat I am not sure what it was to be exact but it was deliscous and included some hard work. We started by walking to tamaki college as usual went to our class room washed our hands and put on our aprons.

Ms H then marked the roll and we got our trolleys cleaning supplies and frying pan. We started by getting some water in a pot and put in the macoroni. Then we got our individual instructions I was the person number 2 in my group I was incharge of all the vegetables. I think I go them done pretty well I pealed washed and grated the carrots, I peeled and diced the onion and garlic and had time to help other members in my group.

After everthing was chopped my group started frying our onions in oil. Once the onion turned a shade of yellow we added the meat, it was smelling quite nice. Most of the other groups we still cutting so we started on our dishes there were quite alot from the sauces the meat the vegetables. It was also my lucky day cause I had to wash it was really hard but my group got it done.

We finsihed cooking the macoroni assembled all the ingredients in the pan.  We then surved it out on some plates and we got back to wiping washing and putting away. My group was done pretty quickly and we aloud to put our aprons back and start eating so that's what we did.

I enjoyed making this dish and I can't wait till next week, I know I say this every week but thank you to everyone that's making tech possible. We have learnt heaps this term and are really getting a taste of what college is going to be like.(Get it food tech TASTE) anways I would just like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Food Tech

Today we had food tech at tamaki college we have been going there for a while now in case you didn't know. We made macaroni and cheese it was harder than I thought but thanks to Miss H we did it quickly and easily. This dish was deliscous and I think one of my favourite I even got the recipe!

This time we were pretty experienced and new what to do at times. I even helped other people from other kitchens. Mostly from the kitchen across from us they were kinda of struggling espacially Caleb he didn't have much of a co-operative group.

I learn how to make white sauce which is pretty different in every dish I learnt that onions and milk can be nice it just matter the way it is prepared. My group can't have pig so we had vegeterian bacon which was much drier than usual but it tasted great.

As usual I was in a group of three with Farah and Roziadah and I did the washing again which was much easier even though there were more dishes I guess it's because my team took care of everything else. They are really good at things like this!

I would really like to say thank you to everyone that helps get us to tech keep us safe. Teach us and help us create such wonderful things. I really appericate this and I would like to say thanks you on behave of Pt England School and the Intermediate group.

Moriori: A Story of survival Reading task

Moriori A Story Of Survival

This week we read a book about survival. We learn about two Maori Iwi that went and took over the Moriori's land after they nursed and took care of them. There were sealers and whalers that came and took most of there resources and they had to recover from that to. When Moriori lost there land they lost everything Family members, Treasures, and much more. When they were killed they were either buried with or without there treasure and some people look for them to this day.

Writer's Notebook

What Makes A Good Superhero

I want to be a good superhero when I am older but how can I be a good superhero. Do you know what makes a good superhero. No, well in this piece of writing right here I will be giving you 3 things that make a good superhero so stay tuned.

The First step to becoming a good superhero is by risking you own life to help other. Imagine a cat is stuck up in a tree branch that is about to break. Instead of waiting for the fire department, you climb up a ladder and sit on the tree branch to save the cat. That’s what I call a superhero.

Secondly I would like to point out that a good superhero won’t save people or do good things for the fame. I mean even though lots of people would want your autograph and have you on magazine covers and do photo shoots but a good superhero would know better and denied it. If I was a superhero I wouldn’t do it for the fame I would do it to help people and make the world a better place.

Lastly I would like to say that a good superhero always has a superhero sidekick and a superhero team. A good super isn’t afraid to admit there wrong and ask for help that’s kinda what make them so super special. For example when you have no clue of what to do ask people for help and maybe they have a plan and you could consider their ideas at time too.

So there you have 3 different way on how to be or become a good superhero. These three easy things are good to keep on you mind even if you are not a superhero you could help anyone in your very own everyday life. I for one think that we are all are superhero.
