Eyelash Seaweed

Name
Eyelash Seaweed is the common name of this plant species. Its scientific name is Dione Arcuata.

Status
Eyelash seaweed is critically endangered. More research is needed as it is unclear whether or not this species exists and it may already be extinct.
Eyelash Seaweed

Physical description
Eyelash Seaweed commonly gets its name from it’s size. This microscopic seaweed is the size and shape of an eyelash.

Reproduction
Eyelash Seaweed is an asexual organisms, which reproduces by forming tiny spores. It creates spores for many things, including the ability to survive in its storm-lashed environment.

Habitat/Location
This seaweed is so rare that in the whole of New Zealand it’s found in Kaikoura beach in the South Island of New Zealand.  It lives on 2 boulders located on opposite sides of the beach. It’s only found on summer rocks at extremely low tides.

Reasons species is endangered
This species is in danger of going extinct because of an earthquake that took place in 2016. It shifted the sea bed leaving the 2 different boulder sites under the sites (where the seaweed breeds) undersea level. It also has not been found in any other beach in New Zealand. However there are many other reasons it is endangered including coastal subdivision, pollution, flood sediments, and erosio
n.

Conservation Measures
Nothing has been done to conserve this species of seaweed, as very little is known about seaweed itself. Only 45% of seaweed is shown in museums and only 5 or less species. As Eyelash seaweed is only a minimum amount and is rarely sighted, little is known about this species.

Future outlook
Because there is nothing done about conserving this seaweed and the species only is found on 2 boulders. It is highly likely that this species will soon be going extinct sometime soon, unless serious measures are taken immediately.

Zaeeda-WLJ- # Week 2 Day 5 (Leaders!)

Week 2 Day 5: Leaders!
Today we are here with some completely different activities. I'm really excited because this is the last day of the Winter Learning Journey so let's make the most of it.

Activity 1: Leaders!

Throughout this week we looked at different leaders. Barack Obama, Jacinda Ardern, Nelson Mandela and Jessica Rogers. Each of one of these amazing people were resilient in some way.

For this task we had to, find out the definition of the word resilience then talk about how each other leaders were resilient we then have to talk about one thing we would like to keep practicing from each leader.

Activity 2: Leaders!
Throughout this week we looked at different leaders. Barack Obama, Jacinda Ardern, Nelson Mandela and Jessica Rogers. Each of one of these amazing people were resilient in some way.

For this task we had to  2 leaders from your family then use an image of 2 people and an explanation of what makes them effective leaders in your family.

Every family has a leader. Someone who carries the family and provides each and every member with the care and love they need. The amazing person that always there for you and continues to support you. I didn't say a name but that person popped into your head didn't they.

In my family it's my mum. She amazing! She wakes up every morning at 3 am and goes to work. After a hard day at work, the fun has just begun. She finished at 3pm and if off to pick up her 3 children, 2 in primary and 1 in college.

After she's picked up her daughters, my mum then come home and does the house work. Cooking cleaning grocery shopping, vacuuming, you name it she does it. But even after all that she continues to smile and persevere, she never gives up or complains.

But it doesn't end there. Despite the fact that she already done so much, she has to do it all alone. My dad is barely home and when he is, he's getting plenty of rest. He's a mechanic and that means that he gets called out a lot, and he does many night jobs. So my mum has to do most of it alone, so she has to be quite on to it.

My mum is always there for me and my sisters, she helps my dad and even provides for our family. So in my eyes I see her as my hero. She saved me many times from rethink at school.

My family is very fortunate to have 2 amazing leaders. My Mum and my Dad, my Dad isn't the kind of leader that does one super noticeable good deed. He's always there, ready to help, Support and advise.

He encourages us, by giving us the best pep talks. He helps my me and my siblings with our homework A LOT. Just in general my dad is very encouraging in towards our learning at school and education.

He's known widely in the community for upholding a reputation of being super helpful. He's always up to the task in helping anyone out. Whether it's getting a car jump started or helping someone start up there own business.

Another reason that I personally find my dad to be an amazing leader is always there to give advice He's done many things in his life, and has a lot of knowledge, as it comes with old age. That's why I find him the best person to ask for help and advise.

As you can see, there are many ways that he is a leader. And it's not just doing one good thing it's continuously doing something, THE RIGHT THING!

Activity 3: Extra Activities
We had to create a post in which we are sharing 3 quotes that the leaders in our family say. When the had to post it on our blog with an explanation for each one.

This first quote if about being back at school. Just because it's not lockdown anymore we should still continue to learn and grow and keep going. I don't really know about you guys, but for me especially lockdown was a really important time in which I reflected upon myself. After lockdown I had a fresh start and I got to restart things that I hadn't done very well in. I kept going and kept growing. Also remember It's important to do your best!

This one relates to a quote my family said during lockdown which was "Sunshine is yet to shine on this cloudy day" we said that because, we were all waiting for the good news of, NO MORE LOCKDOWN to be announced which was going to be our sunshine. But now we speak of it as pass tense. This quote also relate to the fact that lockdown wasn't all that bad. New friendships were made but overall we became better as a community.

There are many great people the believe that nothing beats hard work. Well, a similar quote is spoken by my parents, especially my mum. My mum is known too work extremely hard providing and raising 3 kids. She also works a lot at home, a quote I often hear her say is Don't fear work, work should fear you. Basically meaning don't stop working because they're is too much work to be done just keep going and keep persevering.

Activity 4: Bonus Activity
For this task we had to write a message that we would like to send to everyone in New Zealand. This message had to be somewhat encouraging. We also had to choose three emojis to some up this weeks Winter Learning Journey.

Here is my encouraging message. It isn't much but basically everyone has done a good job at getting things back on track and back to normal. We just need to keep being amazing.
👌😎🤔
I chose the ok hand as, my holidays and the winter learning journey has been okay. There wasn't anything that has made this holiday the best ever. But we still have one more whole week.

I also chose the emoji with the sun glasses. Because these activities were decently easy and I cruised through them, which gave me enough time to relax and just chill these holidays.

The last emoji was a thinking sign because, most of the activities this week, were the same ones I completed in one of the Summer Learning Journeys I did.

Welp this Winter Learning Journey has come to an end. I did enjoy the activities, and had quite a bit of fun completing them. These holidays I did a lot of relaxing at home, and preparing, because we have a busy term a head of us, and my mum's birthday is on Monday but you'll hear more about that later. SEE YOU NEXT TIME! <3

What is the Water-Cycle?

The water-cycle is a key component in the hydrosphere. The water cycle is a hydrological cycle that has been circulating throughout the world for hundreds of years.

There is no original beginning nor an ending for this process, I will be starting with precipitation. Precipitation is rain, snow, sleet or hail that falls to or condenses on the ground. In New Zealand, the most common form of precipitation is rain and snow.

After precipitation, accumulation takes place. Accumulation is the process of water gathering in a body of water. This can be as large as the ocean or as a small puddle. Without accumulation, we wouldn’t have any oceans, rivers or lakes.

Evaporation is the third part of this process. This is when water changes from a liquid to a gas or vapor. Once water has accumulated, heat from the sun evaporates the water into vapor. Water vapor can be seen on your window as a result of the rain. Evaporation is the main movement of water through our hydrosphere as it returns from liquid form to atmospheric water vapor.

Condensation is when water vapor collects to form clouds. Condensation is the movement of water vapor changing into liquid water, basically the opposite of evaporation. The clouds will then continue to get heavier and heavier until it bursts, releasing as precipitation. Condensation is essential in the water cycle as it is responsible for the formation of clouds.

This is the key element of the water cycle, but there is also transpiration, the process of water going into plants. This process involves water from the rain being absorbed by plants through their roots, stems and leaves. When water is exhaled by plants, it leaves in water vapor adding building up the condensation in the clouds and returns as precipitation.

Another part of the cycle is Sublimation. It’s when the clouds not only produce water but also release what we know as Hale, Ice or Snow.

That is the complete order of the water cycle. Precipitation, Accumulation, Water-vapor, Evaporation, Condensation, Transpiration, Sublimation.

Matariki

Today we had a Matariki Day at School.
Matariki is the Maori name for the cluster of stars called the pleiades. The celebration Matariki is the first rising of these cluster of stars. It’s a harvest festival that takes place nearing the end of Winter. While everything is getting ready for the time ahead of them. Argo Matariki is the marking point for the New Year and the New Growth.

The Pleiades are the cluster of seven stars. Many people debate on whether or not there are 7 or 9 stars. The Maori constellations states that there are 7 stars Tupu-ā-nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Waitī, Waitā, Waipunā-ā-rangi and Ururangi. The Greek constellation includes 9 stars. Including Hiwa-i-te-rangi and Pōhutukawa.

At school we have celebrated Matariki in many different and fun ways. One of them being our Matariki fun days. The whole school splits up into different classes a mix of yr 1-8 student. Then you spend the whole day doing either, Sport, Cooking, Crafts, Movie Making.

On Friday our school did our Annual Matariki Fun Day. I was put into Arts and Craft, despite the fact that it wasn't my first choice so I was a little skeptical about being in Art and Crafts, mostly because my arts and craft skill haven't improve much.

When arriving at room 7 which would be my class for the day. The rest of the group was there too; Me, Tha-Zin, Leilani, Te Rangimarie, Taliyah, Kauri, Josh and Paschal were all from the senior block so a good chunk of the group would be made up of seniors.

Mr Goodwin let us into the class and explained what we were going to be doing. We were to make a galaxy art in which we had to add a matariki quote onto afterwards. I quite enjoyed doing this it was fun and didn't take to long. We had all finished nearing the end of the middle block. Me and Tha-Zin also got to talk a lot about High-School and our time in Mr Goodwin's Class.

The day went by very quickly and reflecting on it now. It wasn't too bad. I this would have to be my favourite Matariki Group. And I just realized that this was my last Matariki Day, it's a bittersweet feeling. But for everyone who's going to be doing these in the future good luck and make the most of it. ;)

Joesph Parker @ PES

Today we had one heck of a surprise waiting for us. Every Friday morning we have a school assembly, and this one was quite special indeed last week. Do you know who Joseph and Elizabeth Parker is?

David Price hopeful of fighting Joseph Parker on Anthony Joshua ...Yes, can you believe it? Ms Carter had some connection and made it possible Joseph and Elizabeth to come to and talk in our assembly. That morning was full of a mix of emotions. As I was a prefect I got to special meet and shake hands with them myself it was quite and honor. Many people were shocked, AJ one of the other prefects even asked me if his hair looked good!

If you don't know who Joseph Parker is he's an amazingly talented New Zealand Boxer. He's 28 years old, has a wife and 2 kids. He is 1.93m tall and weighs 112 kgs. He has held the heavyweight title from 2016 to 2018. And like every great man Elizabeth, who is Joseph's sister manages him.

Standing at the front of the school it was easy to tell that everyone was excited and acknowledged his presence. There was a quiet buzz and the whole school was whispering to the people around them. Started out assembly normal we did the karakia mihi national anthem the quiz and then the korero. The whole time there was a slight excitement and tension all waiting to see what the famous boxer was doing here at our school.

After the prefects had finished the quiz, Mr Burt invited Joseph Parker to front and handed him the Microphone. But his introduction was cut short when Mr Burt asked him to play the guitar. During lockdown the famous boxer got up to some really cool antics, he Played Guitar danced and many kepted many people entertained and well. Mr Burt asked him if he could play us all something. He agreed and played a few amazing notes on the guitar, it felt like seconds when it was over. I kept wishing to hear more.

After that he started what he came here for. He started talking to us and presented us with a speech that was...well I'm speechless. IT WAS AMAZING! he told us to believen ourselves and that nothing beats hard work. I loved his words and think that he's right keep on believing yourself and NOTHING BEATS HARD WORK!

P.S (After his speech him and Elizabeth helped hand out duffy certificates and I GOT TO SHAKE HIS HAND)

What's the point

This week in literacy we looked at fables, and how they always have a good moral. We looked at 3 different fables, The boy who cried wolf, The Lion and the Mouse and The Dinner party. We looked at the narrative mountain for each of these as well, along with that we looked at the moral of each story, I espacially like The Dinner Party, fable it was very interesting and it really made me think. This task was okay, and it has definetly prepared me for our reading and writing tests later in the week :))

Different Biomes and The Biosphere ~Extension~

This week, we learnt about the Biosphere, in extension. We looked at ecosystems, climates, animals and how this all works. We also looked at how the biosphere is made up of parts from all the other sphere such as the Atmosphere, Geosphere and Hydrosphere. We are continuing to learn discuss and research in depth what all of these are. I'm pretty happy with this task, in which we had to answer some questions and research a couple different biomes. Enjoy!

Pandemonium Pandemic

Lately, you must've heard about the Corona-Virus. Well we learnt about what it is and how the different countries have handled this pandemic. I found it very interesting, especially since New Zealand has the strictest policies. By making all the travelers get quarantined for 14 days. This week we were practing making good sentences.

Staying In Balance

For this task we had to talk about how we keep ourselves balanced. There were 4 main categories we had to share, Physically, Spiritually, Mentally and Socially. This relates to team 5's term wide focus which is based on Te Whare Tapa Wha, the house of wellness. Enjoy!

My Family Documentary

Hello There this is my Term 1 DLO, It's been a while and I never got this completely done. I'm sharing some personal information, but it's pretty much, why I am the way I am and live here in New Zealand. It also shares an animation which is available on the slide deck below. Enjoy!

~Cultural Traditions~

For this task we had to talk about different cultural traditions we have in our families. We had to talk about one in particular. After that we had to write a recount about a time we took part in the cultural celebration happening in our family.

This week and last week, we have been learning about Moko, and how it's not just a Maori thing it's done all around the world. But the Maori version is the Moko, something that has a lot of meaning and tells it's own story physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Visual Mihi

Since the beginning of the year, we have been working on our Visual Mihi. We had to include things about us our, lives, family, goals, subjects, just who we are in general. I worked super hard on mine, because this is the last Visual Mihi I will be drawing at P.E.S.

For my visual mihi, I drew some of the different places me and my family have been to, because me and my family are always traveling and going places. I drew me and my parents and then a picture of my and my sisters. I drew the school sign, and I put in my favourite subjects. I also put in the New Zealand, flag with a picture of New Zealand. All of these things relate to me, and in the the middle of all four pictures is me.

Science Experiment (Mercury @ Tech)

This week we have started, tech. Last year we had Textiles, Robotics, Hard Materials and Food Tech. But being a year 8 this year we were supposed to have music instead of Textiles, but we had science. I was in the group doing science, a long with a few other of my friends.

I was looking forward to science, at Tech because at school we only get to explore a small part of it. I wanted to learn more about other areas. So maybe this class would allow me to do just that.

One of the first things we did was talk about our experiences with science and scientist. What they do, and if we'd every thought about becoming scientist, stuff like that. It didn't take long, I sat next to Jahzara and we both had different and interesting things to say.

We then watched a video about a Science fair and different projects. We were given a piece of paper to take notes and put down facts about the project that interested us most. For me it is the one below about Mercury. I did hear a fact once about Isaac Newton's death, he died in his sleep but before that he was said to have Mercury poisoning because of all the chemical experiments he conducted.

Zaeeda-SLJ-# Week 4 Day 3 (Screen Legends)

Week 4: All The World's A Stage
Day 3: Screen Legends

Welcome back, to the last week. Three task to complete and 2 days left after this. I've really enjoyed the week so far we've kind of been learning about some of my favourite people. I've actually enjoyed the whole summer but let's save this talk for the last day. Enjoy!

Activity 1: Talk Show Host
For this task we had to share our passion and interest, jobs we dream of and may consider doing one day. What we'd like to do when we're older and what we'd do after college.

Oprah Winfrey is basically a television legend. She is famous for her work on The Oprah Winfrey, this show ran for 25 years. Many people say that she is among one of the most influential women in the world. She is very successful and has helped other too!

Like anyone Oprah had to work hard in order to achieve her goals and success. She had to over come challenges obstacles and hard times, in order to achieve her dreams and she did, as a result she became a radio presenter, TV news presenter, and daytime talk show host. She currently owns her a production company (HARPO), and television station (OWN). She also makes a magazine, called 'O'.

Oprah has a passion for education, she loves the power of learning. She has even started her own school in South Africa called The Oprah Winfrey Leadership School for Girls. Oprah believes the power of learning and continues to try and provide young people opportunities to follow there passions in order to live a successful life like her.

After P.E.S I will most likely be going to Selwyn College like my Sister and my dad. After that I would be going to Uni, and I'll be going to Med School, because my dream job is to become a Surgeon, preferably a Neuro-Surgeon.

I know that medical professions take a lot of courses and time, so I will most likely getting a part-time job in order to support myself and will work towards continuing my studies. I actually have dreamed of working in the Medical Profession since I was young, my parents also support this dream.  So yeah, that's what I want to be doing in the future, and like Oprah I am willing to work hard and do take risks, in order to achieve my dreams, I AM DETERMINED!

Activity 2: Plot Points
For this task we had to imagine we were making a movie. We had to share on our blogs the movie plot, what are the main characters and events happening in the movie.

Lupita Nyong'o spent a lot of her childhood in Kenya, Africa. Her whole family was there, she was 1 of out 6 children in her family. After she graduated from High-school, she moved to the USA, in order to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress.

She is now an Actress and was cast in her first American film, East River, in 2008. Lupita Nyong'o has also written and made a number of great films, like  Black Panther and 12 Days a Slave. She actually won the 2013 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, also known as an 'Oscar. She is the first ever Kenyan and/or Mexican woman to win an award.

Lupita is very successful over the years she has written a created a number of star-films. She received a masters degree from Yale University and has even written a children's book called Sulwe.

If I could make a movie I would most likely base it off the narrative I shared earlier during the summer learning journey, the one about friendship and the 3 friends.

Otherwise I'd base it off my life, teenage stories, friends, good times, bad times, and how to get through them. I would most likely also base it off my school days, cause that would be really fun. So my movie or movies would be like the 'diary of the wimpy kid' movie series that also comes in books.

People would be able to see life through a teenagers life, and the kind of problems they fave and how they overcome them. I pretty sure that people will be able to relate and it would definitely be fiction, because we would want it to be appropriate for all audiences.

Activity 3: Feast Or Famine

For this task we had to share whether or not we would take part in the 20 or 40 hour famine.

Julian Dennison a 17 year old actor from Lower Hutt, near Wellington. He has starred in many Movies and TV Commercials. You might recognize him from  Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Deadpool, or in the Lynx ads. He's super funny!

But, acting and being funny is not all Julian is about. He has recently became a World Vision to be a 40 Hour Famine Ambassador. He Even traveled with world vision, all the way to Uganda. There they met some refugees, who live there.

I would definitely do the 40 hour famine, as it's for a good cause and, it sounds like fun. It would also be really easy to sign up since, our school has been doing it for a while. I haven't tried out yet, but I have heard about stuff that happens during the 40 hour famine. I like the idea of 40 hour famine, and the cause. It's great to see people helping out, and ready to give up food for such a cause. It's also great that schools are doing it, sharing awareness.

That concludes day 3 of the last week, had heaps of fun and really enjoyed doing these activities. Only 2 days left of the Summer Learning Journey and till school starts. I'm Psyched About School, Being a Year 8 and a prefect. This is my last year at PES so we better make it a good one.

Zaeeda-SLJ- Week 4 Day 2 (Musos)

Week 4: All The Worlds A Stage
Day 2: Musos
Welcome back to the second day of the week. As always we have 3 activities to complete. Only a few days left till school starts and the Summer Learning Journey Ends. LET'S DO THIS!

Activity 1: Getting Stronger
For this task we had to list our 5 of our favourite artist (Singers or Bands) and 5 of our favourite song. It can be any genre of music from any time period.

Aaradhna is a Samoan-Indian singer, she is also a New Zealander. As a child she sang traditional Samoan and country songs with family, and she joined the senior choir in high school. She gained international attention in 2004, after she partnered with Adeaze and made the song 'Getting Stronger'. The song hit the top of the list in New Zealand Singles Chart.

Favourite Artists - Bts
Bts is a Korean pop boy band. They debuted in 2013 and last year they went viral. Everybody was listening to them or knew who they were. BTS is currently my favourite artist, they have made many albums and have given there fans A.R.M.Y amazing content. They have amazing looks, personalities. dance moves and vocals.

-Billie Ellish
Billie Ellish is another one of my favourite artist. She has many different types of songs, that can get people hyped, and has a very catchy beat. Each song has it's own personality, and has the power to change your mood.

-Twice
Twice is another k-pop group that is made up of 9 people. I like Twice because there songs are always happy and cheerful and can put you in a good mood. Me and my friends often sing Twice songs at school, as we dance and jump around.

- iKon
As you may be able to tell, I'm a k-pop fan my 3rd favourite artists is iKon, another amazing Korean pop group. They debuted 2 years after Bts, in 2015. My favourite song from Ikon is Love Scenario, it's really catchy and sounds great too.

- Astro
Astro is another great korean pop group, that debuted a year after icon in 2016. The group is made up of 6 members, JINJIN being my bias. They have very happy and cheerful songs, that would definitely go in any party playlist.

Favourite Songs

- Bts Mikrokosmos
I like the vibe Mikrokosmos gives, the lyrics are also very meaningful.

- Billie Ellish Ocean Eyes
Even though it's not the happiest song, I still really like this song, Billie Ellish is a very talented singer and this song made me fall in love with this artist's music.

-Backstreet boys I want it that way
I want it that way, from the Backstreet Boys, A great karaoke song that I really enjoy singing and dancing to no matter what.

-Twice What is Love
What is love from twist is a really hyped song, that would get anyone excited.

-MKTO Classic
Classic from MKTO, is a really laid-back and chill song that remind me of a summer afternoon, the after party of spending the day at the beach.

Activity 2: K-pop Heroes
For this task we had to watch a video about BTS CBS Morning Special. We then had to share our thoughts on BTS, and whether or not we liked them or not, we also had to support out opinion with reasons.

I think that BTS are amazing people, that deserve to be where they are today. They have worked hard from day 1 and each member has been through hard times at some point during their life. Big Hit has also done a good job of making BTS a BIG HIT SENSATION!

As an A.R.M.Y on my own, I dream of one day being able to met these famous K-pop idols, or at the least go to one of their concerts. I am also a A.R.M.Y consumer I have bought many BT21 key chains and even have one on my school bag.

Image result for bts
There is so much I could say about BTS they have amazing looks, vocals, dance moves personalities and continue to leave all their fans in awe after every concert, song and music video. BTS have also make very spectacular music videos and provide A.R.M.Y with quality content. They have also delivered good messages to their audience like LOVE YOURSELF!

I could go on day and night about why I like BTS, but basically BTS IS AMAZING!

https://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/coolest-cutest-oddest-moments-bts-world-mobile-game-2517273

Activity 3: Girl Power
For this task we had choose to a role-model, we then had to share what we know about them, and why they would make a good role-model. It can be someone we personally know, or someone we've seen on the internet.

Jessica Mauboy singer, who is Australian Aboriginal. She received fame when she was runner-up in Australian Idol in 2006. She went on too record a number of successful songs. Both her acting and music career is going well, she is a role-model to both girls and Indigenous people.

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, is a New Zealand Opera Singer. She became one of the best Sopranos in the world, (A soprano is a female singer that has a very high voice). Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was adopted and very little is known about her birth parents.

Both of these people can be seen as role-model, they were both faced with challenges and obstacles that they had to over-come in order to get to where they are today.

Image result for kim nam joonName: Kim Namjoon
Age: 25 years old
Born: 12 September 1994
Occupation: Kim Namjoon, is a successful, k-pop idol. He is the leader of Big-Hit's boy-band BTS.

With BTS Kim Namjoon is said to be one of the most influential people in the world, with over millions of fans who call themselves A.R.M.Y. BTS have actually done and are more than just good looking people with amazing personalities dance moves, and vocals.

- They have actually have shown that they are interested in more than music. They have used their power and fame to share with there viewers, Mental challenges and issues today's young people face. They have openly talked about how they want to create an enviroment in which we can share out thoughts, feelings and hardships.

-BTS have also taken part in Suicide prevention. They have talked about suicide prevention, and about SHINee member Jong-Hyuns death. BTS talked about how it came to a surprise to everyone and that no matter how good someones life looks from the outside. Mental illness and problems can occur to anyone anywhere. This is why they have talked and shared with everyone why every bodies well being is important.

All of this work was also followed by concerts and an album called 'Love Yourself' Album. And this all happened with Kim Namjoon also known as RM being there leader. He is also the only fluent english member in BTS, so he plays a huge role in BTS doing many things. That's why I think RM would make a good, Role-Model.

That concludes today, we basically have 3 more days left, in the Summer Learning Journey, and less than a week left in the school Holidays, I'm really hoping to get this done in time!

Zaeeda-SLJ- # Week 4 Day 1 (Bookworms)

Week 4: All The World's A Stage
Day 1: Bookworms
Welcome back to the last week, let's make the most of this week and do some amazing learning. There is also only a few days left in these holidays so let's make the most of that too. I had actually made a small mistake while I was doing last week I had actually thought there were 6 weeks when there were 4 weeks, so I had actually thought I wasn't going to be able to finish. But I'm glad that I will be able to finish and can't wait to see who gets the top blogger prize too!

Activity 1: Rags To Riches

For this task we had to create a book cover for our favourite book. We had to think about what would be on the cover and how it may relate or throw off the reader from what the story is actually about. Fonts and colors are also something important too.

J.K Rowling is one of the top authors in the world. She has written many books including the Harry Potter Book Series. Millions of copies have been sold, this has made J.K Rowling the worlds first billionaire author.

As she was writing the first Harry Potter book, she was a single mother with very little money. Writing was what she did when Jessica was sleeping. Instead of her real name (Joanne) she use her initials J.K. The publishers thought that boys wouldn't want to read the book because it was written by a women.

Over time J.K has done many more interviews and has revealed more about her as a author, and as a person in general. Oprah Winfrey, a famous television personality also interviewed J.K.

You know the metaphor "don't judge a book by it's cover" we sometimes do, when we don't have anything else to go off, it is necessary. Having an interesting cover can hook in a reader as much as a good story. But the mystery of the story is also a thrill!

My favourite book is Little Women written by Louisa May Alcott. It a book about 4 sisters that each overcame challenges throughout there lives.

My favourite part of the book was when one of the sisters, was brave enough to sacrifice her hair so they could buy medicine. They had a father that went to fight in the war. There mother had been very ill.

For the book cover I have made it quite feminist, it's light pink on the outside, with the title and authors name at the top. There is a picture I found on line in the middle. It has 4 girls who I believe are sisters with there hair braided together.

Activity 2: Romeo and Juliet
For this task we had to write a recount about what we did this morning. We then had to use a tool, to convert our normal English into shake-spears English.

William Shake-spear, was an author poet and play-writer, (1564-1616). He is mostly known for a play he wrote while he was living in England. Despite the fact that they were written a long time ago, they are still very popular because of the fact that the play talks about things that known to us. (Love, revenge confusion, betrayal, jealousy, hurt, etc.

You may have hear of some of Shake-spears plays. Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, King Lear. Many of them have been turned into movies. Shake-spears plays where written in English, but not the same English we use today. Many of the words we use now a days were not used back in the 1600.

Normal English
This Morning, I woke up to a warm summers day. My mum had already woken, up. We had a delightful breakfast, and then started our day. Today we were planning on painting our Kitchen, so we headed to Bunnings to get some paint. After we got back home, we started painting. We finished at about mid day.

Shake-Spear English

This m'rning, i did wake up to a warmeth summ'rs day.  Mine own mum hadst already woken, up.  We hadst a delightful breakfast, and then did start our day.  The present day we w're planning on painting our kitchen, so we head'd to bunnings to receiveth some painteth.  Aft'r we did get backeth home, we did start painting.  We did finish at about mid day

Activity 3: The Diary of Anne Frank
For this task we had to imagine we had a diary. We then had to write a story about the our most extraordinary days. It can be an event that actually happened or an event we made up.

In the 1930s Anne Frank was a brave girl who war born and raised in a Jewish family in Germany. When the second world war started Anne Frank and her family had to go into hiding. This was because the Politicians (Nazis) didn't like Jewish people. Her whole family living in a secret room in their home for 2 years.

While this was happening, Anne Frank kept a diary. She wrote in it ever once in a while and when the war ended Anne's father found it and turned it into a book. The title was The Diary of Anne Frank or The Diary of a Young Girl. Many people keep diaries and write down thoughts, feeling and events that have happened.

My diary entry was the day BTS my favourite K-pop group and boy-band came to our school. Obviously it was made up. But A girl can dream right!

That conclude the first day of the last week. I hope you enjoyed, I think my favourite task was the last one were we could imagine our most extraordinary day. Only 4 more days left let's make it count.
