Zaeeda-SLJ- Week 4 Day 2 (Musos)

Week 4: All The Worlds A Stage
Day 2: Musos
Welcome back to the second day of the week. As always we have 3 activities to complete. Only a few days left till school starts and the Summer Learning Journey Ends. LET'S DO THIS!

Activity 1: Getting Stronger
For this task we had to list our 5 of our favourite artist (Singers or Bands) and 5 of our favourite song. It can be any genre of music from any time period.

Aaradhna is a Samoan-Indian singer, she is also a New Zealander. As a child she sang traditional Samoan and country songs with family, and she joined the senior choir in high school. She gained international attention in 2004, after she partnered with Adeaze and made the song 'Getting Stronger'. The song hit the top of the list in New Zealand Singles Chart.

Favourite Artists - Bts
Bts is a Korean pop boy band. They debuted in 2013 and last year they went viral. Everybody was listening to them or knew who they were. BTS is currently my favourite artist, they have made many albums and have given there fans A.R.M.Y amazing content. They have amazing looks, personalities. dance moves and vocals.

-Billie Ellish
Billie Ellish is another one of my favourite artist. She has many different types of songs, that can get people hyped, and has a very catchy beat. Each song has it's own personality, and has the power to change your mood.

-Twice
Twice is another k-pop group that is made up of 9 people. I like Twice because there songs are always happy and cheerful and can put you in a good mood. Me and my friends often sing Twice songs at school, as we dance and jump around.

- iKon
As you may be able to tell, I'm a k-pop fan my 3rd favourite artists is iKon, another amazing Korean pop group. They debuted 2 years after Bts, in 2015. My favourite song from Ikon is Love Scenario, it's really catchy and sounds great too.

- Astro
Astro is another great korean pop group, that debuted a year after icon in 2016. The group is made up of 6 members, JINJIN being my bias. They have very happy and cheerful songs, that would definitely go in any party playlist.

Favourite Songs

- Bts Mikrokosmos
I like the vibe Mikrokosmos gives, the lyrics are also very meaningful.

- Billie Ellish Ocean Eyes
Even though it's not the happiest song, I still really like this song, Billie Ellish is a very talented singer and this song made me fall in love with this artist's music.

-Backstreet boys I want it that way
I want it that way, from the Backstreet Boys, A great karaoke song that I really enjoy singing and dancing to no matter what.

-Twice What is Love
What is love from twist is a really hyped song, that would get anyone excited.

-MKTO Classic
Classic from MKTO, is a really laid-back and chill song that remind me of a summer afternoon, the after party of spending the day at the beach.

Activity 2: K-pop Heroes
For this task we had to watch a video about BTS CBS Morning Special. We then had to share our thoughts on BTS, and whether or not we liked them or not, we also had to support out opinion with reasons.

I think that BTS are amazing people, that deserve to be where they are today. They have worked hard from day 1 and each member has been through hard times at some point during their life. Big Hit has also done a good job of making BTS a BIG HIT SENSATION!

As an A.R.M.Y on my own, I dream of one day being able to met these famous K-pop idols, or at the least go to one of their concerts. I am also a A.R.M.Y consumer I have bought many BT21 key chains and even have one on my school bag.

Image result for bts
There is so much I could say about BTS they have amazing looks, vocals, dance moves personalities and continue to leave all their fans in awe after every concert, song and music video. BTS have also make very spectacular music videos and provide A.R.M.Y with quality content. They have also delivered good messages to their audience like LOVE YOURSELF!

I could go on day and night about why I like BTS, but basically BTS IS AMAZING!

Activity 3: Girl Power
For this task we had choose to a role-model, we then had to share what we know about them, and why they would make a good role-model. It can be someone we personally know, or someone we've seen on the internet.

Jessica Mauboy singer, who is Australian Aboriginal. She received fame when she was runner-up in Australian Idol in 2006. She went on too record a number of successful songs. Both her acting and music career is going well, she is a role-model to both girls and Indigenous people.

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, is a New Zealand Opera Singer. She became one of the best Sopranos in the world, (A soprano is a female singer that has a very high voice). Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was adopted and very little is known about her birth parents.

Both of these people can be seen as role-model, they were both faced with challenges and obstacles that they had to over-come in order to get to where they are today.

Image result for kim nam joonName: Kim Namjoon
Age: 25 years old
Born: 12 September 1994
Occupation: Kim Namjoon, is a successful, k-pop idol. He is the leader of Big-Hit's boy-band BTS.

With BTS Kim Namjoon is said to be one of the most influential people in the world, with over millions of fans who call themselves A.R.M.Y. BTS have actually done and are more than just good looking people with amazing personalities dance moves, and vocals.

- They have actually have shown that they are interested in more than music. They have used their power and fame to share with there viewers, Mental challenges and issues today's young people face. They have openly talked about how they want to create an enviroment in which we can share out thoughts, feelings and hardships.

-BTS have also taken part in Suicide prevention. They have talked about suicide prevention, and about SHINee member Jong-Hyuns death. BTS talked about how it came to a surprise to everyone and that no matter how good someones life looks from the outside. Mental illness and problems can occur to anyone anywhere. This is why they have talked and shared with everyone why every bodies well being is important.

All of this work was also followed by concerts and an album called 'Love Yourself' Album. And this all happened with Kim Namjoon also known as RM being there leader. He is also the only fluent english member in BTS, so he plays a huge role in BTS doing many things. That's why I think RM would make a good, Role-Model.

That concludes today, we basically have 3 more days left, in the Summer Learning Journey, and less than a week left in the school Holidays, I'm really hoping to get this done in time!

Sunday 26 January 2020

Zaeeda-SLJ- # Week 4 Day 1 (Bookworms)

Week 4: All The World's A Stage
Day 1: Bookworms
Welcome back to the last week, let's make the most of this week and do some amazing learning. There is also only a few days left in these holidays so let's make the most of that too. I had actually made a small mistake while I was doing last week I had actually thought there were 6 weeks when there were 4 weeks, so I had actually thought I wasn't going to be able to finish. But I'm glad that I will be able to finish and can't wait to see who gets the top blogger prize too!

Activity 1: Rags To Riches

For this task we had to create a book cover for our favourite book. We had to think about what would be on the cover and how it may relate or throw off the reader from what the story is actually about. Fonts and colors are also something important too.

J.K Rowling is one of the top authors in the world. She has written many books including the Harry Potter Book Series. Millions of copies have been sold, this has made J.K Rowling the worlds first billionaire author.

As she was writing the first Harry Potter book, she was a single mother with very little money. Writing was what she did when Jessica was sleeping. Instead of her real name (Joanne) she use her initials J.K. The publishers thought that boys wouldn't want to read the book because it was written by a women.

Over time J.K has done many more interviews and has revealed more about her as a author, and as a person in general. Oprah Winfrey, a famous television personality also interviewed J.K.

You know the metaphor "don't judge a book by it's cover" we sometimes do, when we don't have anything else to go off, it is necessary. Having an interesting cover can hook in a reader as much as a good story. But the mystery of the story is also a thrill!

My favourite book is Little Women written by Louisa May Alcott. It a book about 4 sisters that each overcame challenges throughout there lives.

My favourite part of the book was when one of the sisters, was brave enough to sacrifice her hair so they could buy medicine. They had a father that went to fight in the war. There mother had been very ill.

For the book cover I have made it quite feminist, it's light pink on the outside, with the title and authors name at the top. There is a picture I found on line in the middle. It has 4 girls who I believe are sisters with there hair braided together.

Activity 2: Romeo and Juliet
For this task we had to write a recount about what we did this morning. We then had to use a tool, to convert our normal English into shake-spears English.

William Shake-spear, was an author poet and play-writer, (1564-1616). He is mostly known for a play he wrote while he was living in England. Despite the fact that they were written a long time ago, they are still very popular because of the fact that the play talks about things that known to us. (Love, revenge confusion, betrayal, jealousy, hurt, etc.

You may have hear of some of Shake-spears plays. Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, King Lear. Many of them have been turned into movies. Shake-spears plays where written in English, but not the same English we use today. Many of the words we use now a days were not used back in the 1600.

Normal English
This Morning, I woke up to a warm summers day. My mum had already woken, up. We had a delightful breakfast, and then started our day. Today we were planning on painting our Kitchen, so we headed to Bunnings to get some paint. After we got back home, we started painting. We finished at about mid day.

Shake-Spear English

This m'rning, i did wake up to a warmeth summ'rs day.  Mine own mum hadst already woken, up.  We hadst a delightful breakfast, and then did start our day.  The present day we w're planning on painting our kitchen, so we head'd to bunnings to receiveth some painteth.  Aft'r we did get backeth home, we did start painting.  We did finish at about mid day

Activity 3: The Diary of Anne Frank
For this task we had to imagine we had a diary. We then had to write a story about the our most extraordinary days. It can be an event that actually happened or an event we made up.

In the 1930s Anne Frank was a brave girl who war born and raised in a Jewish family in Germany. When the second world war started Anne Frank and her family had to go into hiding. This was because the Politicians (Nazis) didn't like Jewish people. Her whole family living in a secret room in their home for 2 years.

While this was happening, Anne Frank kept a diary. She wrote in it ever once in a while and when the war ended Anne's father found it and turned it into a book. The title was The Diary of Anne Frank or The Diary of a Young Girl. Many people keep diaries and write down thoughts, feeling and events that have happened.

My diary entry was the day BTS my favourite K-pop group and boy-band came to our school. Obviously it was made up. But A girl can dream right!

That conclude the first day of the last week. I hope you enjoyed, I think my favourite task was the last one were we could imagine our most extraordinary day. Only 4 more days left let's make it count.

Zaeeda-SLJ-# Week 3 Day 5 (Creativity+)

Week 3: Experiments and Gadgets
Day 5: Creativity+
Welcome back to the last day of week 3 only a few more days left in this holidays to let's try and do as many activities as possible, but still make sure to have fun. Enjoy!

Activity 1: Ministry of Inspiration

For the first task we had to watch a video about the Pasifika Aqua-bots competition that was in Nelson. Students had to navigate their Aqua-bot around a swimming pool to collect things. We then had to share on our blog whether or not we would join a underwater robotics team at our school.

The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, are people you may have heard of. They are people who give advice to the government, but the Ministry of Inspiration is something you may not have heard of. But basically the Ministry of Inspiration is an organization that is in Nelson New Zealand. They work towards getting kids to think creatively, about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths, aka (S.T.E.A.M).

The ministry of inspirations is responsible for hosting many fun and creativity activities. Aqua-bots being one of them. Aqua-bots are underwater robots, that compete against each other in an Aqua-bot competition in Nelson.

Image result for aqua botsI would definitely like to join a school underwater robotics club. It sounds cool and I was actually in a robotics club at school before we brainstormed and started making plans to help save the enviroment from pollution.

I think that aqua-bots are really cool and could be used in future. I also think that the competition would've been really fun and I'm sure that from what I saw in the video, they were challenged and had to work together, and I loved everything about it!

Activity 2: Caine's Arcade

For this task we had to share on our blog our favorite game. It could be a board game, video game or a game we played by ourselves or our friends.

Caine Monoroy is a 17 year old boy from Los Angeles (L.A) California. He spent his summer holidays working with his dad when he was younger, his dad worked at a Auto-part store downtown in L.A. While Caine's dad was busy Caine decided to build himself something that he always wanted. He made it out of card board boxes and other things he found lying around.

One day a man came in looking for a handle for his car and he met Caine. After seeing Caine's arcade the man was so impressed he decided to make a movie about Caine. He also invited all the people in L.A to come and play games in Caine's Arcade.

Activity 3: Choose your own
For this task we had to choose a our very own Scientist, Inventor or Technologist. We then had to share on our blog facts about them their occupation and how they have changed peoples lives.

Name: Sir Issac Newton
Born: Jan 4th 1643- 31st March 1727

Discoveries
-Newtons Laws of Motion
- Newtons law of Universal Gravitation

Issac Newton is a famous scientist known widely throughout the field. His discoveries have helped many scientist make new discoveries throughout the past few centuries. He has also inspired many to learn.

Image result for sir isaac newton- Issac Newton is actually an English mathematician, physicist, astronomer, theologian, and author.

- He is also famous as he was the one who developed the three laws of motion. Which is the basic rules of modern physics.

-His calculus discoveries led to many more methods of solving complicated mathematical problems.

- He died in London during his sleep but Issac Newtons hair was examined and said to have contained Mercury, probably from his alchemist work. Mercury poisoning could be the explanation too his weirdness, in his late life.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Newton

That concludes today and this week. I had heaps of fun especially the last task as I love science and experiments. Last year we learnt heaps about how cells work and what are in cells. Science is also an amazing topic and something I loved learning about, but I can't wait to do the 3 weeks that are yet too come.

Zaeeda-SLJ-# Week 3 Day 4 (Hauora)

Week 3: Experiments and Gadgets
Day 4: Hauora
Welcome back to and exceptional great day. Today is the second to last day of week meaning we are seeing the finish line of the summer learning journey. However there is still a long way to go, so let's start!

Activity 1: Medical Mavericks

For this task we had to look at a list of Nobel prize winners. We had to choose 1 and learn as much as we could about them. We then had to share on our blog what we learnt.

Over a long period of time many important discoveries were made by clever people, who wanted to help others. Florence Nightingale and Marie Curie are 2 very clever women, whose work has been identified and appreciated.

Born in England, 1820 was Florence Nightingale. She trained to be a nurse and was sent to Turkey when she was an adult.. She took care for wounds and cared for the soldiers during the Crimean War. When she arrived, she spent money to clean up the hospital because they were dirty, she then worked hard to provide the soldiers with quality care.

Marie Curie was born 1867 in Poland, but after sometime she moved to France and went to university there. She learnt heaps about Physics, chemistry and math. Her career include conducting experiments which led her to discovery of chemical elements. Marie Curie was also the first person to use an x-ray machine to look at a human body. For her work she received 2 Nobel prizes.

Activity 2: IMOKO

For this task we had to think about our well-being and health. We then had to list 5 ways we in our families maintain our well-being. 5 ways to stay strong and healthy!

In 2014 Dr Lance O’Sullivan was named New Zealander Of The Year. He is a Maori Doctor that lives in Kaitaia Northland. He devoted his life to provide care and improve the health and well-being of the people in his community and his patients.

Lance and his Wife Tracy, have started up some great projects together here in New Zealand. Things like affordable clinics, Kāinga Ora initiative and the MOKO Foundations. The Moko Foundation provides care for students in school-established clinics.

Lance also started IMOKO, which is a program  which people living in communities without doctors and medical-care can take pictures of health issues and post to doctors in Kaitaia. When the doctors look at the photos the medical professional is then able to send advice and a script to the local pharmacy, so the patient can receive medicine. Thanks to this program the health and well-being of people living in the country areas of Northland.

- Spending Time Together
Me and my family spend heaps of time together, doing fun and sometimes crazy things. We go on road trips, vacations, and with my Mum Dad, and two Sisters things never get boring.

- Doing things we love
However we do have our own hobbies sometimes its things like cooking cleaning and reading books. Things that you'd do by yourself, but other times is things you do with friends.

- Exercise
Exercise is another great way to stay physically fit and mentally. It's also a good way to spend time outdoors and away from a screen.

-  Music
I love music all genres of music, you can sing dance and just let your mind run free as you listen to music. It's a great way to release stress and have fun!

- Sleep
Sleep is another way to remain healthy and well being. Getting enough sleep is very important and usually hard for adults as they have work and other things to worry about.

Activity 3: Putting Our Heads Together
For this task we had to imagine we were called by John Kirwan, Mike King and/or the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and w were asked to create a new poster for the organization.

Health is a difficult subject, many people believe that there are many forms of health. Mental health, Social health, physical health, etc. Mental healthy is a something we don't often talk about, but basically it's what we think about ourselves, the world and the people in it. Our mental health can be affected by changes and things that have happened to our lives, it can also be changes in our brains that is out of our control.

People like Mike King and John Kirwan have decided to speak publicly about mental health here in New Zealand. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided to do things overseas and have joined the discussion of mental health. They have started a foundations like John and Mike to help people with mental health issues.

John Kiriwan started up a foundation called  John Kirwan Foundation in 2018.  The Key to Life Foundation, the I Am Hope and the Gumboot Friday was started by Mike King. The
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge started the Heads Together foundation in 2017.

That brings us to an end of today, I enjoyed these task espacially the last one, I haven't created a like that in a long time, and I really think have a good health is important. Only a few more days left in the school holidays, See you next time.

Zaeeda-SLJ-# Week 3 Day 3 (Inventive Inventors)

Week 3: Experiments and Gadgets
Day 3: Inventive Inventors
Like always we have another 3 task to do today, and I can't wait to get started. Throughout this week we have already learnt about some amazing people who have done many great things. Let's start!

Activity 1: Nano-girl

For this activity we had to visit the ‘Build Tiny New Zealand’ website and go to the bottom of the page where we were to find a series of videos. We then had to watch 3 and share on our blog why we would or wouldn't like to live in a tiny house one day.

Michelle Dickinson is a nanotechnologist A.K.A Nanogirl. A nanotechnologist is a scientist or engineer that works with very small objects called Molecules. Michelle Dickinson is famous because she performs cool shows about science in schools around New Zealand. She has a lab in Auckland, and that's where she works when she isn't performing. Over the years she has written 2 books and received many awards like the  New Zealand Women of Influence in Innovation and Science Award and The New Zealand Order of Merit for her innovative work.

If I could choose between living in a tiny house or not. I would not choose to live in a tiny house, as it would be very compact. It would be very cosy and definitely aesthetic. storage wouldn't be a problem either. It is perfect for a vacation or short trip.

However it would probably not be something I would use long-term. It is very small and it's in the name Tiny-House. I would much prefer something a little more spacious, as it would be easier for gathering and having people over. It will also limit the amount of people allowed to live in it too 1-3 people.

Activity 2: Printing Prosthetics

For this activity we had to learn more about 3D printed prosthetics. We were supposed to look watch a video about (artificial body parts, like hands or arms). We then had to share what we learnt and what surprised us on our blogs.

A man named Chuck Hull invented the first 3D printer in 1983. A 3D printer creates something using a design that was created by a computer. The printer creates the design using a material that's a bit like plastic it is called PLA.

3D printing has modified the way we are designing and manufacturing products. We can make many things, parts for machines, structures and even humans.

Breaking an arm or leg is not at all fun especially since you are limited to activities and have to wear a cast. A man named Jack Evill created a cast that is lighter and 3D printed cast which was much lighter. The cast was strong, recyclable, waterproof, and ventilated.

I learnt that this task had 5,400 contributing members and they are on track to provide prostheses to 6,000 more people over the next 2 years.

- I found it amazing that the arm was actually very light weight. Even though it looked quite heavy and complicated. It's hard to believe that most of that device was 3D printed too!

Activity 3: Need For Speed
For this task we were to design our own super fast vehicle. It could be anything. On our blog we had to share a picture of our super fast vehicle and write about it's special features and what we would use it for.

We have many great inventors in New Zealand that have created, many inventions to change the world. Bill Hamilton(1899-1978) and John Britten (1950-1995) are 2 amazing inventors.

Bill Hamilton grew up on a farm in the South Island. One of Bill's earliest inventions was a tow rope, to take skiers up the ski-field. But Bill's most famous invention is the expansion to the modern jet boat engine. The jet boat engine allows boat to speed across rivers super fast, like Huka Falls jet. Bill created these inventions to solve a problem and make things easier.

John Britten, loved to rebuild vehicles, this includes motorbikes. In he formed the Britten Motorcycle Company. It was in his garage in Christchurch, New Zealand. The V1000 (One of the bikes he made) won many international races and set a world speed record for going 340km per hour.

My fast vehicle is a motorcycle, which was modified and given wings. A motorbike is already a very fast moving vehicle but giving it wings would allow it to fly, and probably get around a lot faster, because I doubt there is traffic in the sky.

I would mostly use this vehicle to get to school and back, throughout the week. Other than that I may use it to get to places like the library and the shopping mall. I may use it when there is a lot of traffic. Probably on weekends when there is a lot of traffic.

and that's all for today. I hope you enjoyed. I really loved learning about inventors and inventions that people have made to solve a problem and make life easier.

Zaeeda-SLJ-# Week 3 Day 2 (Cracking The Code)

Week 3: Experiments and Gadgets
Day 2: Cracking The Code
This is the second day and the third week of the summer learning journey. I'm so excited to continue this amazing journey once again. I am also keeping in mind that the top blogger prize this year is a Nintendo switch which is an amazing prize. Enjoy!

Activity 1: Through Careful Observation

For this task we were to choose a picture (We were given 2 options), and observe it closely in order to find out details and what we think it happening in the picture. We then had to share our thoughts and observation on our blog.

We have had many people change the world throughout history. Some have shown how the world works and worked out why it works that way. These people are known as scientist, or theorist. There are many amazing scientists like Sir Isaac NewtonCharles DarwinAlbert EinsteinKatherine FreeseMaria Goeppert Mayer and Sau Lan Wu.

Each of those people have changed the world, and it all started with an idea. This is usually followed by the scientific method, which conducts upon a few simple steps. Asking a question, creating a hypothesis, conducting experiments and examining results and asking a new question.

The picture above is called day and Night.
- The picture captures what the town and pretty much the world looks like when it's night and day. However instead of making 2 separate drawings, the artist has combined both, painting making it cross over from day to night.
- The picture lacks color and I honestly, don't think it needs color. The fact that it's painted in black and white make it seem, old, timely and vintage.
- This picture also has an interesting use of shapes too, some parts of the picture is checkered. It reminds me of a chess board, and is quite interesting, I wonder what the painter saw it as.

Activity 2: Overcoming Adversity
For this task we had to write a recount about a time, we or someone we know was face with a challenge, and was brave enough to over come it.

A well known English scientist, named Stephen Hawking studied the origin of the universe. He was born in 1942 and died in 2018, but at the age of 21 he was identified with Motor Neurons Disease. As time past, Stephen Hawking lost the ability to walk, talk and do anything.
However, he did use a wheelchair to get around and with the help of a computer he was able to communicate. His voice sounded a bit funny, and a wheelchair did have it's pros and cons. But at least it was something.
Stephen Hawking lived a long life, and did some amazing things, despite his misfortune. His perseverance, determination and ambition drove him to achieve his dreams, and try his best to overcome the obstacles he was faced with. Where most people would, he didn't quite he kept trying and achieved a lot and lived an amazing life.
My little sister was faced with a challenge last year. When she had a constant ringing in her ears. She had trouble hearing things, and we had to get a specialist to check it out. She didn't sleep for many nights, but continued to try her hardest.

In October she had a surgery, and got miniature tubes in her ears. These we to clear out dust and other grime. My whole family sat 8 hours at the hospital because of that. But the surgery was successful and she can hear exceptionally now.

Yesterday she went on her checkup, and things are going fine and dandy. She will now be completely fine, and her hearing should be better. She has done better in school, and has been able to communicate with us easier.

Activity 3: Hidden Figures
For the last task we had to do some coding, something I am very familiar with. The coding website we used was code.org. We had to start with an easy level and work through each level until it got to hard. We then had to post a screen shot of our shape on our blog, after that we had to write about what we did and didn't like about this coding app.

Ada Lovelace who was born in 1815 was viewed as the first computer programmer. Despite the fact that computers had not been invented yet. This was because she worked out many algorithms that machines used to calculate hard math questions.

Another brilliant mathematician was Katherine Johnson worked with NASA (The North American Space Associations). NASA was in charge of sending people into space using rockets. Katherine's job was to check all the calculations that both Engineers and Astronauts used when they designed the spacecraft and flew into space.

A movie was made about Katherine Johnson in 2016. About her and many other women that worked at NASA during this time. The movie was called Hidden Figures. In the movie the women had to learn how to do basic coding, after NASA started using computers.

I enjoyed using code.org, its a fun and easy to use website. However I did have some trouble getting it to load. I think it may have been my internet or it could've been the fact that I was using a smaller device, but once I did get it to load, it worked fine.

The task were easy but at 1 point it did get exceptionally hard and I couldn't figure out what I needed to do. But thanks to the hints and reading the messages that came up more carefully I did figure out how to do it.

Overall I think this website, is a good way to practice and start learning to code. However if you are thinking of creating

https://scratch.mit.edu/ would be the ideal website to use. My favorite thing about Code.org is that there are easier levels and they get harder as you go along but there are different activities so you could just do the easier level of all the different activities or you could just do the hard levels.

That concludes the second day of this week. I was actually on a road trip so I wasn't able to post, much because of the fact that I had no internet. But I'm back and can't wait to continue doing the summer learning journey!

Zaeeda-SLJ-#Week 3 Day 1 (Driving Digital Innovation)

Week 3: Experiments and Gadgets
Day 1: Driving Digital Innovation
Welcome back to another great week of the summer learning journey. This is the third week meaning we have 3 more weeks left. I have had a fun start to the summer learning journey and can't wait get start. This week we will be learning about lots of amazing inventors and scientist that have changed the world for the better.

Activity 1: The World Wide Website

For this task we were asked to take a screen shot of 4 different websites that we find helpful for our learning. They can be websites we use at home and in school during class. We then had to put all of them into a poster or presentation, to share on our blog.

Tim Berner-Lee completely changed the world for us humans. Because he invented the World Wide Web, aka WWW. All the information and data on the internet is kept and read on the web.

Tim Berner-lee was also the first to create a website, the first ever website. We all spends heaps of time looking at website, for different purposes.  At school we often get a new website every year, to access our work. And we spend a lot of time on our class site.

Activity 2: Influencers

The second task required us imagine starting a YouTube channel. We then had to share on our blog what we would include in it and the type of content we would produce for our audience.

YouTube was created in 2005 by 3 men Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. They later sold it to Google and made a fortune of 1.65 billion dollars.

YouTube is a website that was designed to let people watch content made by people around the world. You can also create videos yourself and share those on YouTube. Anyone can have a YouTube Channel and the people that do are called
Youtubers.
Youtubers can make and post videos about anything, and of everything.  People can then watch subscribe and like your YouTube channels.

Activity 3: Apple Vs Microsoft
In the field of technology Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are two very important people.  Steve was a co-founder of Apple. Steve Jobs actually invented the apple computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad. Though he passed away in 2011.

Bill Gates is the founder of Microsoft, and created the Microsoft Software. Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office it was all created by Bill Gates. Bill Gates is now one of the richest people in the world. His wife, Melinda, decided to create a charity called The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, both work with digital technology, and they were rivals, and always trying to beat each other in sales. They are not the only "rivals" in the world, mostly in sports. The All Blacks and the Wallabies rugby teams are both rivals.
Well that concludes today. I hope you enjoyed, I learnt heaps and can't wait to continue learning, and getting through these activities. My internet hasn't been working lately, so I haven't been able to keep up, meaning I have to continue to work hard in order to finish in time. This just goes to show how much we can't do without technology and the WIFI!
