Zaeeda-SLJ-#11

Dear Readers welcome back to another day of the Summer Learning Journey, Enjoy!

Activity 1: Togs or Trackies

The Season I think would be the best for tourist to vist New Zealand Summer because in winter you can't do much because if it rains in winter here in New Zealand it stay for a while.

But If you come in summer it's nice and hot and much easier to travel because you don't have to worry about small problems like kids getting sick and stuff like that.

One place I suggest going to is the Waitomo caves I have been there recently but it was freezing and I work 6 layers and one was really really big. But go there in summer it would be much warmer and you wouldn't have to worry about it raining.

You Could also learn about Glow Worms

The Next Site I suggest you visit would be the Auckland Botanic garden. I went there in term 3 with my friend Te rangi Marie we saw alsorts of cool plants and lakes and it was so peaceful and I enjoyed it heaps the only thing was that there were some puddles in the grass and it was really muddy because it had been raining really bad.

Another place I suggest going is Rainbows End because it is full of rides you and you whole family will enjoy you can go there during the day when its hot and sunny or at night when it's nice and cool either way it would be lot's of fun.

But if you go in the rain most of the rides are outside only the food court is inside and I am pretty sure no one wants to stay inside at the food court when they could be enjoying some really cool ride outside.

So those are the 3 places I would go if I was a tourist and I think that each of those places would be a great place to go. But it is fun to just stay home and relax sometimes.

Activity 2: You Are My Sunshine

I think that it is very important to not get sunburnt or stay in the sun to long because it can cause skin cancer so I am sharing Five ways I would protect myself from the sun. So these are the ways I would protect myself from the sun you should also make sure you are staying hydrated.

1. Were a hat the floppy type are really good because they work like a shade

2. Put on sun block but make sure you check the Ingredients

3. We sunglasses not all sunglass work so make sure you check the label for sun protecting

4. Stay in the shade sometimes when it's really sunny and you have been in the sun to long slip under a nice cool tree

5. You could also were you clothes to protect you skin although it maybe to hot for it.

Activity 3: Burning Up....

Here is the graph I made I did have some trouble but I found the answer in the end here are some countries and how high some of there tempratures can get.

I hope you enjoyed and I can't wait to see you next year and I would like to wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR

  1. Kia ora Zaeeda,

I am so impressed with the quality of work that you are creating, you are making the Manaiakalani cluster team so so proud!

I agree with you, the best time to visit New Zealand has got to be summer!
I really like your idea of going to the glow worm caves at Waitomo and I love your poster that you have created about the glow worms life cycle, i have learnt so much! Did you know that 30 million years ago the entire Waitomo region was covered by the sea?
I love the slideshow that you have made about your trip to the beautiful Auckland Botanical Gardens. You have really gone above and beyond by sharing your experience- explaining what you saw, what you felt and what you got taught!
You have come up with some really great ideas that I am sure all the tourists will love!

You have created some really good points that everyone should know. Do you wear hats at school in summer? I find that your face gets really burnt even with sunblock on so it is important to wear a well shaded hat. Sunblock or sunscreen is another great point, you should make sure you wear this daily, especially in summer.
My favourite point of yours, is that some sunglasses aren’t polarised (restriction of light) this means that you can still get sunstroke or damage your eyes if you are wearing normal sunglasses. A lot of people don’t know this, so kai pai!

You have done an awesome job of creating a graph that shows all the countries that we learnt about. So it looks like ‘Dasht-e Loot’ had the hottest temperature of over 60 degrees celsius? That sure is hot! Next time try labelling the temperatures on the countries, this can be done by adding text boxes and placing it over the bar graph.

    Keep up the mahi!
    Cheers,
    Georgia E
