Robotics Rōpu

Task Description: Dear readers a few month ago I had posted something about helping our earth with the help of a few students and 2 Fisher & Paykel healthcares eningeers to help our Recycling Bincurity team compress soft plastic. Here are what we have been doing the lunch times we have gotten really far with this and I think we can actually do this. I have to admit that I had my doubts at first I think with some help from the engineers we can do this. Please check this every week cause we have the Robotics Rōpu on Wednesday or Friday's. Analysing Data

Walt: Analyse date and and display data using graph

Task Description: Today we did a speed typing test, then collected data and sorted it. We put the data on a graph then we go to customise it. For the test we had to write as many words we could write in a minute. My score was 37 words it was the second highest amount of words in the class and Leilani got 39. I like this task because we experimented and we had to follow instructions then we had to do it and this task was fun and easy!

Goat Island

Walt: write using humour.

Hi there I’m Susan Manawa and I am 11 years old, I live with my parents.I have a few friends and now that I have spent half a year her in Lycka Stad I have really fit in. My Favourite thing to do is to make little projects and for myself, yes I have to admit I am a bookworm some might even say a book slug cause I always have a book. My mom is a realestate agent and my dad is a builder my parents are really strict.





It’s Monday morning and I am on my way to school, My dads driving me my mom starts early. I am sitting in the back seat staring out at the kids walking to school. I felt super tired cause I stayed up video chatting with my friends. We hit some traffic and I take this as a chance to get a bit of shut eye. As soon as I felt the sound of my friends I woke up, I leaped out of the car said goodbye and went to join my friends, we gave each other hugs and waves as we walked over to class, I watched at my dad speed away in the fog until he was only a dot in the distance.





The Bell rings and we all everyone gathered on our big mat, I sat in the front row with my friend Marie. I watched and listened as my teacher carefully spoke. I was drifting off to sleep when my Marie elbowed me “did you hear that?” She asked “no” I replied a annoyed because she woke me up. Marie didn’t mind but she made me listen, “we are going to goat island” the teacher said I have a few notices for you collect them from your teachers when you return to your classes.





For the rest of the day Susan and Marie couldn’t sit still, at home time they walked home together, Marie didn’t live to far she lived around the block from Susan's house. Susan to the door waved to her friend then disappeared inside, “DAD” she yelled “Up Here her dad yelled from on the roof. Susan ran outside “dad could I please go to goat Island my whole team is going and I really wanna go” she pleaded. As soon as Susan finished dad came down and said “sorry you can’t go it isn’t safe and also remember we have food issues, Susan sadly walked upstairs. Sometimes Susan would think her parents do love her anymore.





She went to her laptop, and searched how to change parents minds. She found a interesting hack and decided to try it out. She did all her chores and got busy in the kitchen. Her plan was to make her parents see she is a good kid and bribe them to let her go. She would even pay the money for he to go, Susan thought it was an offer they couldn’t refuse to. The just had dinner and she sat them down and brought out a delicious chocolate pastry cake. “Mom dad could you please reconsider the facts of sending me to camp at Goat Island please” she said in a cool and calm voice trying to hide her excitement, her parents shot her a look they looked at each other and sighed they finally said “fine” said together “YAY” Susan said as she danced happily!







The next day the year sixes were going to camp Susan took her bag and she was off to camp with the other year six’s. When they arrived at Goat Island they unpacked the and went for a swim, they were about to jump into the water when a goat came up and head buffs the pufferfish as it is in the air if puffs up. Susan and her friends all laughed and shouted as they swam in the water Susan has swam out to a little when a dolphin swam up as, soon as it did the dolphin did a MEGA FART, Susan couldn’t help cracking up. Susan was super glad she went to camp!

Task Description: This Week we had to write a funny story, this was kind of hard but it was a great way to test out our writing skills. My story is about a girl going to camp and it was inspired by the fact that Pt  englands year 6's are going to camp in November. I hope you enjoyed !

Task Description: This week we learnt about the different ways there are to solve subtraction questions. For this task we had to answer qeustions about the Fish and Chip shop across the road. Walt: Learining to write a book review Task Description: For this task we had to write a book review about our books we got out from the library. I liked this task and I hope that we do more like this. I wrote the series and title and the author I hope we do more like this. I also hope you enjoy!

He wanted to know things about healthy eating and how he should be eating. We had to fully understand to write him a good reply. This task was not for real and I hope you enjoy!

Walt:  solve problems using Ratios Task Description:  This we learn about ratios. Here is a task about a personal trainer and his clients. We had to use mutiples for this task, it was not that hard but the second question took some thinking but I worked it out in the end. I hope you enjoy!

Rubbish Pick Up

Walt: structure a recount

EWW my hands are still sticky from today’s experience. This morning room 7 went outside to have a fun rubbish pick up. Has your class ever had to pick up rubbish?

One of the first things we did was line up in the porch outside. Some people struggled to put on their shoes, While other happily chatted with there friends. I kept telling myself that I should have listened to my mum last night and gone to sleep. We walked over to the reserve, on the way I kept getting grass stuck to my feet. We all stood on the field in silence listening to Mr Goodwin’s instructions. We into five groups of five but some groups had extra, in my group I had Tha-zin, Benjamin, Marie and Caleb. Even though I was tired I was excited to be off school grounds, we looked for our boundaries and scanned the area for rubbish.

It felt like my feet wouldn’t move at all they were wet and cold and had grass everywhere I finally saw a piece of rubbish hidden deep under a bush and dashed off to get it. We also had to be careful for glass and and sharp objects. We finished three rounds and our bags didn’t seem as full as the other groups, I could tell my group was getting worried. The last two rounds weren’t like the other rounds because instead of the reserve we were picking up rubbish on our school field. once we were all on the field we looked around and we all dashed off to pick up the rubbish. We ran up and down the field picking up any rubbish in sight, yes it was INSANE!

We heard the Mr Goodwin’s whistle which was our signal to run to him. We rushed over and lined up in our groups, once all the groups had settled it was time to find out who had the most rubbish. Miss Haare was our judge. She had a look at all our bags the funny part was when they pulled out some bark from my friend’s group’s bag. Once she checked all the bags it was pretty obvious who had won it was Zamera’s group. The winners got ten minutes on Cool Maths Games at any time of the day. I didn’t think the prize was that good but my group wanted to get it and it was for a good cause so I decided to have fun.

I think that this was a enjoyable way to help the environment and to spend time with your friends. My overall thoughts about this is that a yucky job can be fun when you do it together. We had a Great time doing this and I hope we do this again soon. I recommend you try doing this because you will have fun and do something for a good cause.
