Zaeeda-SLJ- # Week 2 Day 1 (Taking The Lead)

Week 2: I Have A Dream.....
Day 1: Taking The Lead!
I'm back with another amazing day doing the summer learning journey. It's week 2 and this week we will  be focusing on people who have tried to make a change through activism and politics.

Activity 1:Playing Favorites
For this task we were asked to name 5 things we like to do. We then had to take pictures of us doing those things. I had fun both doing this task and the activities I enjoy doing.

Barack Obama was the USA president from 2009-2017. Barack Obama, was the first USA President to be first African-America. He was born in Hawaii with a father from Kenya-Africa and an American Mother. His parents separated when he was young and his father died when he was 21 years old.

Barack Obama, met his wife when her studied law at university. Together Barack and Michelle looked for way to help adults and help other in there community. Barack and Michelle are usually doing there favorite things when there not working. this includes spending time with their family, playing with their dog, or going to the gym.

Activity 2: Rights and Wrongs

For this task we were asked to find out how old Dr Jessa Rogers was when she recieved the award. She was born on 7 April 1985 and she received the award on 9 July 2010.

Jessica became the first school principal and youngest (Aboriginal principal in Australia). She was the principal of a school in the far-north of Queenstown, Cape York Girl Academy for young mums and babies. Jessica was rewarded with the NAIDOC Youth of the Year award in 2010, has gone on to win many more awards and write several books all because her work has improved several indigenous educations.

The answer to this mathematical question is 25 year 3 months and 2 days old. I know this because....

2010-1985=25

So we know that she was 25 years old. I then added on months to the date, because that's how long it's been after her birthday and how long it's been after she turn 25 years old.

April + 3 months = June
7 April + 2 days= 9th April
So in total we have 25 years 3 months and 2 days old.
So Jessica was 25 year 3 months and 2 days old when she received the award.

Activity 3: 'Dear Jacinda'
For this task we were allowed to choose a topic that affects our country. We then had to research and write a letter to Jacinda Adern addressing this problem. This task was heaps of fun, especially since I have an interest in politics!

Dear Jacinda Adern
I am writing to inform you about the pollution problem, not just in the world but happening in our local communities. Our schools, beaches and streets are flooded with rubbish. No matter how many pieces we pick up, and how often we clean up. Rubbish gets everywhere!
Our locals, are not the main problem anymore as they now know that it’s not good to pollute. However when our trash cans are overflowing and the wind is blowing. Rubbish gets everywhere!
This rubbish could harm our environment and may become major problems.

  1. Our gardens and that won’t help the plant
  2. Float out to sea and hurt our sea creature
  3. It can fly everywhere and get stuck in the drain gutter and even get blown into the shop

I suggest we should do something about it urgently. Here is my solution.
Step: 1 We could empty the bins more often because this would help the bins from overflowing and it would make the community look much neater and it wouldn’t hurt our environment.
Step: 2 We could have bins, in which we sort the rubbish. That way we could have our plastic, waste and recyclable rubbish in one place. I know that this would help because Pt England have started a Bincurity team that help the student of Pt England School recycle and sort their rubbish into 3 different bins

  1. The black lidded bin where we put our soft plastic like chip packets and glad wrap
  2. The Yellow lidded bin where we put hard plastic card board and clean paper we also put in thing with the recycling sign in it
  3. The red lidded bin were we put waste the thing we don’t want and don’t put in the other bins like fruit skins and wet and gross things

Step: 3 We should also get more bins, more bins means more space to put rubbish in and less chance of rubbish overflowing
So that is my solution I hope that it will help and that we can do something about this rubbish harming our planet because I care about our Environment but I need some help Please help me and other out by doing something about this problem.
