New Zealand Sign Language

 New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) is strictly homegrown. The natural language of NZ’s deaf community, it expresses New Zealand culture by using Maori terminology. This includes terms like Whare, Marae and Whanau.

NZSL has been an official Language of New Zealand since 6th of April 2006. It's the 12 most frequently used languages in New Zealand. 24,000 people use sign language daily.

New Zealand Sign Language is a stand-out language used to communicate with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. It’s a series of Hand gestures, movements and facial expressions used to convey meaning. Of course it’s not to be mistaken as body language.

Hinewehi Mohi A Reo Change-Maker ~Writing~

 Hinewehi Mohi had a father who was very passionate about being Maori. He taught his entire family to speak the Maori language. That is the reason behind Hinewehi Mohi having the ability to speak Te Reo Maori fluently.

However it did not stop there, She also went to a St Joseph's Maori Girls School. This allowed her to use Te Reo Maori everyday and have it normalized. She then went to Te Whare Wanaga o Waikato (Waikato University), from there she started her career.

Hinewehi went on to become a professional singer. She Sang duet with Peter Urlich and was in London advertising an album. While in London she was given the opportunity to sing the national Anthem at the Rugby League match. She was hesitant at first but then saw it as an opportunity to share her culture and the proud Te Reo language of Aotearoa.

Admirable Person (Explanation Writing)

Min Yoongi is from South Korea, and is BTS’s Lead Rapper. Suga has been through some tough times, his, he’s always writing songs with meaning and he donates to charities. He’s accomplished a lot in his life, and continues to work hard. 

Despite where he is right now, Min Yoongi’s life isn’t all sugar and sparkles. He’s had a rough life. Min Yoongi came from a poor family, where his father couldn’t afford to pay bills. He almost committed suicide because of stress he really wanted to debut but his family was struggling. On December 9th Yoongi had surgery because he had an appendix burst. But even after this he’s tried his best to stay strong and get through it.

Suga is also a very emotional person, whose music always has meaning. Every rap song and word he uses in his music has a meaning, and tells a story. Yoongi is very caring, and is grateful towards his fans and followers. Even so he continues to work hard and is very inspiring. One of his songs with BTS is called “Spring day”.

Suga, continues to work hard, and has done many things along side, BTS he’s donated to several charities and made several campaigns to talk about sucide prevention and depression. Suga says that the world should be an open and safe place, for people to share their feelings and without getting backlash. He has also done a ‘Love Yourself’ Concert with BTS. 

Min Yoongi, is an amazing person that has been through some hard times. But no matter what he continued to live and was determined to achieve his dreams. After joining BTS he opened up K-pop to many people including me. But even so he continues to work hard everyday, and give back to various charities. He is thankful for his fans and continues to create good quality content.

Letter to 2020 Teachers

Hi, I have nothing to say. Mrs Iloao said to share things about ourselves, but I’ve basically shared pretty much everything. 

I have two sisters, 1 older and 1 younger. You used to teach Alisha a few years ago. And my younger sister Zaria, is now in year 5. I’m the middle child and it has its ups and downs.

I don’t like reading and writing, because it requires a lot of work and while I prefer things like Maths where you mostly get to think. I also like maths because you get to see how things connect in different ways. I’ve been in Mrs Stone’s maths class since last year.

Being a prefect is fun, but I’m starting to see how much time we actually spend away from class. I am still going to continue trying and working hard.

My goal for this year is to work hard and improve my writing. Throughout the holidays I read 13 books 3 comics, and talked A LOT in order to expand my vocabulary. So let's see if that all paid off!

Global Warming Is A Problem

The earth has many problems. Most of them caused by  humans, but there is one problem that was beyond the homosapines reach. Global warming, a large international problem that is getting worse day by day. Global warming is a problem and that’s today's topic!

Let’s begin with one of the most obvious reasons, the children's future. Taking the children's point of view, they can’t do much except get educated on the topic of global warming. So it’s up to adults and the ‘’powerful people’’ to do something, children have no say or insurance that they will get a better future even the future that lies ahead of you, is unsure at this point!

Which leads to my second reason, it’s not just the children getting affected it’s the bigger people too. Global warming is a huge problem, in economy. This is because “powerful people” have addressed the problem by increasing prices on items that have an affect on global warming, or sources that are being eradicated due to usage. Thus leading to a large circle of endless problems, the “powerful people” need to look at the bigger picture, and think about everyone.

Lastly,  the effects of global warming are happening faster and are getting much worse. So the whole world, is starting to crumble. The ozone layer being extracted, the uv light from the sun is getting hotter, etc.  The world needs help and it’s up to the human race. They need to stop adding to the problem, and start taking actions and precautions, working together and making a difference.  

So that concludes today’s topic. I know it’s a large problem and I have said it multiple times, and this is because what I am saying it fiction but a fact.  Global warming is a large problem, and I may not have the answer to it but I do know we have to do something and fast. Global warming will continue and get worse, if you love your family and your friends should try and create a better future for EVERYONE!
