Taha Whanau

For this task we had to add pictures or make avatars of the people in our family and what they did during lockdown to help out. My mum helped a lot because she was an essential worker, my sister woke me up every morning and made sure I made my google meets on time. I did chores and helped out around the house. My little sister humoured our whole family and she kept me motivated to do my work. My dad cooked us dinner and he had a couple of jobs here and there!

Taha Tinana

What is Taha Tinana?
Taha tinana is about taking care of you physical wellbeing. This includes things like, exercising, sleeping at the right time and resting enough. Remember to exercise for 30 minutes everyday. The average amount of sleep for kids our age is 9-11 hours.

How is it affected by lockdown?
Lockdown has made it so you, are asked to stay home. This makes people less motivated to exercise go out and get their 30 minutes. We also aren't traveling which means people aren't getting out and about.

How can you support your physical wellbeing?
You can take care of your physical health by going for a run, and still remembering to social distance you can also remember to go to sleep on time and include people in your bubble to have more fun!

Made to Measure

Today Ms Stone said that we were the yr 8's were moving into level 5 work. As the yr 8's are soon going to be preparing to head in high-school. I enjoyed this task, but I do hope we continue to do work at this level. As it was helpful and I'm feeling better about next year!

BACK TO SCHOOL!

YAY! we're going back to school next week. I can't wait to see all my teachers ands friends. But most importantly I can't wait to get out of this lockdown. I know the lockdown was for our own safety, but I did get pretty sick of staying home. I can't wait to get back to school and stop having good meets. Even so I'm still going to remember to social distance and sanitize. But get those drink bottles lunch boxes, chromebooks and school bags out because WE'RE GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!

Midnight Sun- Book Review

Title: Midnight Sun

Author: Stephenie Meyer

Genre: Romance-Novel,Fantasy, Young-Adult-Fiction

Page Count: 658

Summary: This book is remake of twilight written from Bella Swan's point of view many people want to hear Edwards side of the story. Edward Cullen is a 119 year old vampire who lives as a 17 year old in Forks, Washington. He falls in love with a high-school girl name Bella Swan. The two are inseparable. Both unconditionally and irrevocably in love with each other.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed reading this book. When I read the books and watched the movie I hadn't thought they're was so much that I didn't know. I really loved hearing what Edward had to say, as in the books and movies don't get to know what his thoughts were. It's was pretty amazing, I mean I had know idea that when Bella first walked into his Biology class he planned to slaughter everyone in the room!

Recommendation: I highly recommend this book to anyone in lock-down and all the twilight fans. It's a good read even if you haven't read all the other books. However age wise I'd warn you to be careful.

The Art of Plant Photography!

Today I had some free time, as we didn't have much class work to do. I decided to go out and do some photography, when I first when outside I was a little stuck on what I should photograph. I spent quite a bit of time thinking about it when, I saw some of the plants around my house. I decided to photograph them. What do you think? Did I do a good job?

Slit-throat

‘Yes welcome; please take a seat on the left’ The mayor said. Several townspeople had gathered in the town hall in order to discuss the action that will be taken against the recent deaths in Gibesalf-falls.

The meeting began, but not much later came the people in Town hall stunned by the presence of Nicholas Aldom. He was known as the town’s hill billy, Crazy person. ‘I hope I’m not interrupting anything’ he said in a posh voice as he hung up his coat. Galloping over to a seat near the mayor.

‘Not at all’ the  mayor replied with a stern and cold voice. It was no surprise that his presence was not welcome there, as Nicholas was known to do everything in his power to question the mayor's authority.

‘It seems that we have another homicidal maniac on our hands’ the mayor started 'the sheriff and I, are open to hearing suggestions, thoughts, or any hush hush information on this case'. A quiet murmur arose in the room. Nicholas could hear that many seemed to be about him.

‘I beg your pardon, but it’s very rude to talk about someone in such a manner’ He exclaimed, jumping out of his seat. He marched right up to the mayor looking him square in the face and saying ‘This man is a hoax isn’t it clear to you all that he has done literally nothing to help you out of this mess’.

The crowd dispersed before the meeting got out of hand. Nicholas decided that he would take it upon himself to assemble a cult. Not any cult but one that would stand together fighting the forces of evil, the like so called “slit-throat” in Gibesalf-falls.

The day went by slowly it was gloomy grey, but the magnificent colours of the leaves on the trees made up for it. The grass was moist and puddles filled the pavements. ‘What a wonderfully peaceful time of year’ Nicholas thought out loud.

Later that evening another gory night took place. He walked through the dark alley.  His shoes are clacking on the pavement. Clack Clack. I watched as he marched closer. A knife in his hand.

He was tall and mysterious, with incredibly broad shoulders. It made me wonder how he managed to stand up right. He walked closer and closer, to the small girl weeping in the corner.

I watched helplessly, as he finally reached her. He came to a halt, a dark smirk creeping across his face. He raised his hand and slit the girl across her neck. He didn't stop, he held her there for a second.

I watched in horror. Was this real, no it couldn't be. I ran, I didn't know where or why, but I had to leave. It was the late hour of the night, and I didn't know who I should tell. I decided my best bet was my friend, the one person I could confide in.

I had arrived home, it was late. My wife and child were out, probably spending my week's wage at the mall. It didn't matter, I was tired.

I sat down for a moment of silence. It felt like only a second when my friend barged in through the door. He was out of breath and with cold sweat accumulating on his forehead.

I calmly asked "How may I assist you at this hour"

'Murder, Alley, Tall dude' He said out of breath

'Cedric calm down and tell me what's wrong' I started looking at him seriously

He took a deep breath and took a seat on the brown sofa I had placed in the living room. 'I just witnessed a murder, It was a girl, she she-' He stuttered

'Cedric how many times do I have to tell you, take your pills and stay in your new home. The doctor had told you missing them will affect your mind negatively leading to mild hallucinations' I started hoping my words would persuade him.

'But it was real' he said again

Later that evening, after I had convinced him that it was all a pigment of his imagination he finally went home. It was exhausting, and he was quite stubborn. It was a close call, nobody can know what took place in that alley. And nobody can know my secret. I am the murderer.

The next morning it was printed all over the paper, Headlines were “Cedric Willows a mental health escapee” and “Mentally unhealthy Hazard on the Loose”. ‘What a whole lot of malarkey’ Nicholas said as he sat on his front porch reading the new paper, with his steaming cup of coffee placed in his hand.

‘Welp let’s not waste anymore time, looking at events from the past and focus on the present and future’ Nicholas said as he grabbed his top hat, cane and coat. He decided to walk to the local high school; the one he wasn’t banned from. Gibesalf-falls public high-school it’s been a while long since he’d been at the highschool but he mustn't dawdle there was no time to waste.

Many students had just arrived out of their classrooms rushing to their lockers, friends and second period classes. Nicholas clutched his clipboard in his hands. He put up a couple flyers and gave out sign up sheets, by the end of the day they had 15 members.

‘Welcome everyone, to the first official meeting of the Black circle, I am Nicholas Aldom, your founder and club president’ Nicholas started he then continued ‘ We are gathered here today, because both you and I believe that there is an injustice happening amongst us  and SLIT-THROAT that serial killer, must pay for his sins’ he states in a stern voice.

Some of the students flinched, but everyone stayed silent until ‘Yes we're right behind you all the way. But what’s the plan!?’ It was a jock from the football team. Pale white skin, blonde hair, he was quite muscular. He had blue eyes and freckles. ‘Hello my name is Jason, My sister was one of the people slaughtered by this atrocity’ he stated, he walked closer to the other people in the room ‘we must rid this town of this sinner’ he said in a dark voice.

‘Well then I guess it’s necessary that we get a move on’ Nicholas said

‘The people that got slaughtered are all related’ a small voice said. It belonged to a girl she was wearing a pink top and had her blonde hair slicked back. Everyone turned their heads to look at her, she unfolding her arms she had a powerful stride. The kind of stride that let everyone know “DON’T MESS WITH HER” .

‘How so?’ Nicholas questioned.

‘I did my research uncovering that all of these people had an encounter with the mayor’ she stated her eyes scanned the room,  looking for a response from the audience.

‘Are you stating that the mayor had something to do with the killings’ Jason asked

Nicholas ‘Malarkey, it’s much too soon to make assumptions and or accusations we must INVESTIGATE’

‘I agree nobody deserves to be generalised that’s why I’m here’ A deep yet somehow quivering voice stated. It belonged to a male wearing a leather jacket having some kind of bird imprinted on it. ‘Hello my name is Cole I come from a low income family, I don’t have fancy clothes and sometimes I have 1 meal a week’ he turns his back and walks through the pathway that the crowd had created for him. ‘I’ve become what some people call the prime suspect the mayor had fired me from my job at the drive in and that was obviously my motive’ Cole raised his hands near his face and made quotation marks to resemble the sarcasm in his voice.

The meeting went on for several hours and theories were thrown around. The group had become really solid and they had also formed a plan. But for now there prime suspects are the Mayor, Sheriff, several other people that had been at the seminar earlier in the week. Nicholas was glad, some kind of action had to be taken and he was happy to be a part of it.

Acceptance and Trust!

There once was a forest, in which many mythical creatures lived together in. There were Giants, and goblins, pixies and dragons all carrying on with there day to day lives. It was perfect harmony.

Then one day a pixie ran screaming through the forest disrupting the sleep of Oscar. He was one of the most fierce dragons leaders the drogon clan (named after their ancestor) had ever seen. They were in charge of protecting the forests from any of the dangers.

Oscar was not mad as he secretly had a soft side. He only showed it too those he knew he did not have to fear. He asked the pixie what was causing her to make such a racket whilst running through the forest. The pixie told him what she had seen in the clearing near the river. Oscar agreed that him and his dragons would go and check it out later today, putting the pixies mind at ease.

Later that day Oscar, Cedric and Ronald went down to the river to see what was up. They heard loud rumbling noises and the falling of trees. It didn't sound good and the shaking of the ground wasn't helping either. The three dragons did best they could to fly over head undetected.

What they saw did not make them happy at all. They were tearing down the forest. There we stranger machines and small monkey type creatures controlling them. Monkey's that Oscar and his dragons had meet before had never been so advanced. What was happening he thought.

By night they humans stopped there work and left. The ruckus they caused had riled up the mythicals creatures of the forest. They assembled in the drogon clan cave. Oscar, Cedric and Ronald shared what they had seen at the clearing. Many of the more sensitive giants we taken a back while others raged with anger.

They had to do something. They decided that the pixies could gather there pixie dust and use it's magical properties to shrink down on of the giants who would then collect information which will later be used to form a plan.

The next morning the mythical creatures reassembled and spread out to there given positions. They had eyes and ears in the ground sky trees and water. Almost everywhere you could imagine. George the giant who had volunteered to carry out the plan received the signal from Isabella the pixie and wondered into the what the sign read "construction sight".

One of the monkeys ran over to George immediately in what seemed like territorial behaviour. George asked what was happening and it was explained that something called a shopping mall was going to be built in the clearing. George nodded and found an excuse to back away from monkeys. He then backed away from them making sure not to anger them anymore.

That night the creatures of the forest meet once more to conspire a plan. The dragons and giants agreed that the only option was war. But the pixies and goblins wanted a no violence policy to be put in place. They agreed that the best option would be to talk it out and then revert to their plan if things went wrong. Nicholas who was lord of the goblins said that they should tell the monkeys the truth maybe they'd leave us alone he said. The drogon clan agreed and it was set in stone that that was going to be their plan.

The next day they went to the clearing all prepared to hear the worst. They'd thought that they would not be accepted into their society. Or they'd be seen as a threat or cast aside. So they were prepared not to expect much.

When they arrived they proceed to tell the monkeys the truth. They told them that they should stop what they are doing to the forest as it's already been inhabited by the mythical creatures. The monkeys also told them that said they were not crazy advanced monkeys but a new species of mere human beings.

They all decided that they to leave things as they are and restore harmony to the land. Both sides wanted to avoid a big war. In the end they were all happy with each other and created and created a bigger harmonious bond, through acceptance and trust!

Cream Board

This lock-down my mother pulled out our old cream board game. Cream board is a game similar to pool but instead of needing a table you have a board and instead of sticks you only need your fingers and ability to flick something. The games really easy and there are 2 teams, you can have up too 4 players and basically you take turns the puck and trying to push one of the point in. If you got a black and white one in you'd get 10 points if you got a pink in it was 50.

I played with my family, it was heaps of fun. I'm still not very good. But hopefully with a bit more practice, I'll be good enough to be my parents. Cream board is a game that they played in their childhood in Fiji. When we went there a couple of years ago we enjoyed playing it too!

Tikanga for Team 5 Assembly

Tikanga for Team 5 Assemblies has happened for generations. Our morning Karakia, Mihi and waiata is authentic and part of the Pt England Way. Every student that’s been through team 5 has taken part in our morning Tikanga. I think it should stay that way.

Tikanga for Team 5 Assemblies also allow people to connect. They help even the shyest of students grow more comfortable and confident with the people around us. Knowing we are there for eachother and feeling spiritually connected.

I enjoyed this task. I tried my best. I still think it could be better, I just don't know how to improve it. But hopefully when we get back to school we can look into it more. I was a little bit confused as we had to explain and justify Tikanga in Team 5 Assembly and I didn't know if that was supposed to happen in both paragraphs or just have one paragh for explain and one for justifying.

He pene tau ~Te Reo Maori~

Today we had a Te Reo Maori class. We learnt a new phrase we also learnt how to reply to that phrase. I enjoyed this alot and am looking forward to doing more!

Meet Measurement

Today we had a maths google meet. We got given some slides to do, and in those slides we had to put some decimals in order and we started to look at measurement. We looked at what measurement tools we use to measure specific things. It was pretty straight forward and I enjoyed this task.

Rata and the Totara Tree

This morning we had a literacy google meet. We at another Maori Myth, called Rata and the Totara tree. It was about a Maori man who was looking for a tree to craft a waka for his village. He wanted to get away from the island as Tangaroa and Tawhirimatea we going to have a war which would destroy the village. Rata found a large Totara tree but forgot to follow to recite a karakia of invocation for Tane Mahuta, this lead many birds and insects to restore the tree to its original state. We had to create a storyboard which I quite enjoyed doing, because it helped me get a good idea of what happened in order. Next we had to break up a portion of a text into word groups, we then had to record ourselves reading it fluently. I had to re-record this last time so I tried extra hard to tell the story well and fluently. Next we had to do word groups, I wasn't sure how many we had to choose and use in sentences but I did two of the ones I found most interesting. We then had to do our create task we could choose 1 out of 2 activities, I decided to try making a movie review as I loved the message the clip on slide 3 explained. Overall I enjoyed this task and like how there we 2 parts to our literacy task, looking forward to doing more!

Linear Equations

Today I taught myself how to do Linear equations. I'd seen things like this in my sisters maths books. So I decided why not learn to solve them myself. With the help of many online sources I managed to figure out how to do it. I still need to practice and there is a lot more of this stuff that I can learn but I think I've made a good start!

Te Whare Tapa Wha

Today I reflected on how I've used Te Whare Tapa Wha this lockdown. It's really important to look after yourself and not just physically, mentally and spiritually too! How have you been taking care of your health this lock-down?

Drogon The Great!

Hades paced back and forth. Shadows danced in the darkness across his gloomily lit palace in the underworld. He'd taken control of the underworld soon after him and his brother had overthrown Cronus, their father.

'Where is she? It's been hours since I'd last seen her' he stated not slowing his pacing.

'Hades calm down she will turn up sooner or later' Zeus said taking a seat on his brother's throne of skeletons.

'How can I not, she's my wife and along with that your daughter' Hades exclaimed, stopping to look at his brother this time.

There was a moment of silence when Zeus spoke 'Give it an hour or two and then we shall go out looking for her'. He snapped his fingers and several guards opened the doors that led from the throne room to the courtyard.

Hades and Zeus both walked out into the courtyard, only to see a gargantuan beast. ' You know me brother; I always come bearing gifts this is yours too keep. He's been banished here for the various sins he's committed back on earth.'

'I see, well I guess he could stay here, take him to the dungeons I'll deal with him later' Hades said waving his hands signalling to the guards.

'My work is done here, see you soon brother' Zeus left Hades disappearing further into the horizon.

Hades sat down in his throne massaging his temple in frustration. 'Where is she!' he asked aloud.

'Theseus and Pirithous' a voice said. It was a husky voice just merely above a whisper. Hades followed the voice, it seemed to be coming from the dungeons.

The poor creature lay there almost lifelessly. Blood stained various parts of its body and there was fire part of the collateral damage. There were chains keeping the dragon bound to the dungeons. 'Theseus and Pirithous' it said again.

'what about those scoundrels?' Hades questioned

'The-they've t-taken... Persephone' it slowly whispered. The dragon's eyes were slowly closing. Hades took pity on the creature, allowing it the freedom to rome the underworld.

'Will you please help me find and rescue my wife' Hades questions hesitantly.

'I-I can t-try' The dragon stuttered. Hades unchained the dragon, put out the fire and attended to it's wounds. He gave it food and water; bits and pieces that were lying around in the castle.

When the dragon was ready, they set out together a dynamic duo, off to save the lovely Persephone. They flew to Athens, Greece. Home to many greek gods and goddesses.

When Zeus grew aware that Hades was in Athens he took it upon himself to see why. ‘ Brother it’s not like you to be here, is there something wrong’

‘Theseus and Pirithous, the punks that stole my wife’ Hades said, they’ve got another thing coming. He stroked the dragon that claims his name was Drogon.

Zeus let out a chuckle ‘shall I join you brother?’ he questioned. Hades shrugged and together the three of them were off to save Persephone. They headed to Theseus and Pirithous lair in which they were most likely hiding Hades’s wife.

They made a grand entrance, raiding every corner of the castle. They found Theseus and Pirithous talking to Persephone. ‘Release my wife our be banished to the fiery pits of the underworld’ Hades stated sounding very much heroic.

Theseus and Pirithous refused instead choosing to run. They dashed aways from their hideout much too quickly to catch them. Drogon on the other hand had another idea. He flew overhead and released fire on the two scoundrels.

‘Hades, Thank you!’ Persephone said. ‘I had been picking flowers on Earth when the two snuck up on me and kidnapped me’ She explained brushing off the dirt from her dress and hair.

‘Well that’s the last of them’ Zeus said ‘I’ll take care of them here in Athens, you two go ahead home’ Zeus signaled for Drogon to take flight.

Hades Persephone and Drogon returned to the underworld. And resumed living their happy life with Drogon as their pet and family member. You see Dragons aren’t always bad and merely misunderstood.

Before I Forget 2.0

Today we had maths and in maths we recapped on the things we had learnt earlier in the year. We did a kahoot and answered questions. It was a lot of fun, looking forward to doing more!

Rona's actions (Persuasive Writing)

Rona should not have lashed out at the moon. It wasn’t Marama’s fault that the cloud covered the moon. The issue was out of marama’s control. The moon cannot control the clouds.

Rona was running in the darkness of the night. That was pretty stupid and irresponsible. She has taken that path many times Rona should’ve been careful. She knew that it was covered in sticks and stones, yet she ran anyways.

We had to come up with 2 paragraphs to persuade our audience of our stance towards Rona's actions. She had lashed out at the moon and I think that was unfair and here are some reasons why I think this.

How to cook a Special Breakfast!

Today I shared how to make a special breakfast, and that can vary to your taste and can easily be made and would taste good. With fathers day coming up this would be a perfect breakfast in bed idea, just add his special cup of coffee. You may also decide to swap out the onion and chilly for spinach and coriander, the possibilities are endless. Lockdowns given me heaps of spare time so I thought I'd share with you one way I've been busy!

Decimal Fractions

Today we looked at converting decimals to fractions and percentages. It wasn't to hard since we had done a good amount of this last year. I enjoyed it though and it was cool being able to practice this skill again. We had to answer some questions and fill in some tables. Looking forward to doing more!

A Moon Myth

This week in literacy we looked at another Maori Myth. This one was about a woman who was taken by the moon because she didn't watch what she was saying. This myth is a well known myth and I've heard different versions of it in Te Reo when I was younger. There is even a Maori Waiata about her. For this task we had to read the text make word groups. We then had to record ourselves reading a fraction of the text. We also had to create a storyboard find some worthy words and do a create task. It was heaps of fun and I'm looking forward to doing more!

Ancient Myths

Today we did some inquiry in Home class. For this task we had to pin point at least 2 different myths on a world map. We then had to write about that myth, as a way to share what we've learnt over the term. I had fun and enjoyed this tasks my favourite of the myths is the one about Seasons and Hades & Persephone!

Maui's Fishing Trip!

My brothers are complete and utter nincompoops. I’m a demigod, I may be young but I have the wisdom of any great chief. I’m very quick-witted; when my brothers refused to share bait with me, I used my own blood.

I received a blessing from the Tangaroa god of the sea. I fished up a giant ika. Yes it was dangerous and I was foolishly reckless but no one got hurt. Am I not the only one that came back with a fish? Is it not fair that I am pardoned for my one mistake?

We had to write 2 paragraphs to persuade Maui's mum that it was a good idea for Maui to go on the fishing trip with his brothers.

Te Ika A Maui (Reading)

This week in literacy we looked at a Maori Myth and legend. Maui is a demi-god that's been responsible for many things like the slowing down of the sun and the North Island. We had to answer some questions look at different vocabulary and create a voiceover for the movie on the second slide.

The Fish of Maui

Once long ago there was a Demi-god his name was Maui. He was a smart quick-witted trickster that had accomplished many things. Maui had great determination and willpower, enough to slow down the sun!

One day Maui's brothers who were not very fond of him. Decided to go on a fishing trip. They had very clearly established that Maui was not allowed to come. But little did they know that Maui had been listening to them all along and was conspiring to join.

Maui grabbed his hook which also happened to be his Grandmothers magical jawbone. He then hid in his brothers waka awaiting their arrival. At the peak of dawn Maui's brothers came they made there way onto the blue moana which was shimmering in the morning sun.

Maui's brothers rowed waka way past the village, river and maunga. When Maui was sure they were far from land he appeared from his hiding spot. Maui's brothers wore spiteful expressions.
Maui started to recite a karakia making the waka speed out further into the ocean. The waka stopped Maui looked Maui was sure that it was the perfect fishing spot.

Maui reached for the bait but his brothers refused to share it with him.  He then started bashing his fists into his face until he got a nose bleed. He smeared his blood against the hook. After swing it in the air seven times it plummeted into the ocean.

Not soon after there was a tug on his rope, there was something on his hook. Maui tried to look down into the sea and look at what was on his hook but he couldn’t. So Maui started to pull, his brothers begged him to let go but Maui wouldn't stand for it. He kept pulling he was determined to catch a fish.

Maui pulled and pulled after he had no strength left he found that the fish he caught was a megalithic fish it was enormous. He dived into the ocean to thank tangaroa god of the Sea, as in Maori culture is customary to take what you need and give back to the earth.

When the fish came to the surface of the moana it closed its eyes and perished away. His brothers grew greedy and started to cut and claim the fish. The fish floated on the surface of the moana and to this day that fish was none as the north Island of Aotearoa.

Decimal Fractions

Today we did Maths, Auckland is back in lockdown for 3 days so from tomorrow up till Monday next week school is happening online. For this specific task we looked at Fractions and Decimals, they are practically the same Fractions and Decimals are parts of a whole. I found this task decently easy as I have done similar things to this since year 4, but it was a fun thing to recap on!

He Aha To Hiahia ~Te Reo Maori~

Today we had another Maori lesson. Today we learnt how to ask "what do you want". We also learnt a couple of ways to reply to it. I also created a short comic at the end that shows me using the Maori sentences. I enjoyed this and can't wait to learn more next week.

Sir Isaac Newton (Mathletes)

Sir Isaac Newton is a famous scientist known widely throughout the field. His discoveries have helped many scientist make new discoveries throughout the past few centuries. He has also inspired many to learn.
This week is maths week we had to complete a series of challenges. We did this in a group and got points on getting the answer right, and for working together. For this task we had to research a mathematician. I enjoyed this task!

Reflecting on Team 5's Leadership week!

The step-up was very helpful and I really enjoyed it. Thank you Teachers!

  1. If you were to give ideas for the next year 7/8 camp what would you suggest? I think we should've done painting and karaoke instead of drawing quotes!

  2. What would you keep/stop? I like doing just dance in the street and the sports rotations,, I also really enjoyed the activities we did with Mrs Ilaoa!

  3. Why do we have such events? We have these kind of events so we can put the year 7 and 8s into different environments and see how they get a long and become leaders!

  4. Talk about whare tapa whā and key competencies This event helped many people's Mental health as they became much more comfortable and they got a break from schools. It helps with Taha whanau because of the fact that everyone made new friends and met new people!

Team 5 Leadership week!

Last week the Yr 8's went away to have a leadership camp while the year 7's had a step-up program. I'm a year 8 but I didn't go to camp, instead I stayed back and joined in with the yr 7 step-up program.

It was really fun seeing all the year 7's step up and lead the school while the year 8's were away. There were a couple other year 8's that stayed back too and we were split up throughout the 3 different groups. I was in Team Thunder, the winning team. Instead of getting points for winning games and things like that we got it for working together and supporting each other.

My favourite activity was doing things with Mrs Ilaoa we did cup-stacking and at cookies off our faces and we wrote about things we want to do in the future. I also really enjoyed the shared lunch on the last day we had a table full of chips!

My highlight was seeing all the year 7's come up with a korero and be prefects while the yr 8 prefects were away. They were all very cool and the korero they chose was also very good. WELLDONE YEAR 7's!

As I saw It

Today we looked Captain cook's first day in New Zealand. It could've gone a lot better and there were 9 deaths because of a lack of communication. But in that we also learnt that many people didn't know what had happened and or mistook it to be something else. This just goes to show that many stories can be made and it gets harder to find out the truth. This same thing happened with the cupcake theft, story too. By the way that was all planned by Ms Tele'a.
