Today we had our 4th K.P.M.G Trip. As always it was to support this terms inquiry topic "Life's A Stage". We did some fun and activities and as always learnt heaps. Read on to find out more!
When we arrived at K.P.M.G it was around 10 in the morning. We then had to wait for a whilst the staff got ready. It wasn't to long of a wait and we entertained eachother in the meantime. After a couple of minutes we were greated by Justine, someone we meet everytime we visit K.P.M.G and she led us to the room we will be spending our time in. When we entered we were greated by a couple of staff members, and morning tea. There was chocolates muffins, brownies and fruit, it was all very delicous.
After grabbing a quick bite we were greeted by someone from a copany called Pop Up Globe. She, told us about William Shakespear someone you may have heard of before. The woman told us about what, when, where and why her company does what it does. We learnt that Pop Up Globe was a company that recreated shakespear plays in a recreation of a theatre shakespear made, and destroyed.
We focused on one of shakespears well known plays "Romeo and Juiliet". It was forbidden love between 2 star crossed lovers, whose death brought their families together. We had to summarise the whole story in 5 sentences and then again but each line had to have 10 syllables. This is exactly how william shakespear wrote his stories. After we all presented our groups work we played some games.
After those activites we went to lunch, and let me tell you it was delicous to. I mean common who doesn't like pizza, and salads. It was healthy but also had some yummy additions. I'm pretty sure you can tell the food that ran out first. During lunch we sat down and socialised in friendly chats and games. Time went by pretty quickly because soon after it was time for our next activity.
After lunch, were asked to stand in a line from tallest to shortest. I didn't love this part because I am one of the shortest people in extension, 5th shortest to be exact. Anways so we were put into order from tallest to shortest and then given a number between 1 and 5 we started from the tallest side. I was given the number 1. Thus meaning I was in group 1. Along with me in the group there was Bethan, Paikea, Alison and Justice the tallest person in extension. Yes I was the shortest person in my group too!
Our job was to put together a short play which was close to 3 minutes long. It didn't have to be exact, we decide to mash up 3 well known stories the title was, "Captain Drac Sparrow and the Three little Pigs". We rehearsed this and made back drops, we even had sound affects and a good ending. When is was time to present we were ready.
There were 2 groups before us and both of them were pretty good, when it came to our turn our group was quite prepared and non of us looked nervous. I was only worried about the amount of practice our groups did. When it started a few changes were made but we rolled with it and didn't think to much about it. The plot was good and there we some funny and dramatic moments. I accidently made a dramatic moment when I caught the hat Justice through in mid air, but it was only a reflex cause it was going to hit somebody so. Shhhh!
Once each group had performed we played some charades, whilst the judges confirmed the placements. Most of the answers we related to drama or our plays. But some of them were just random movies we have seen recently or are in theatres now. Pirates of the carribean was one of the most easiet ones possible. A lot of the plays were related to pirates of the carribean so it was very obvious!
After all the placements were finalised judges finally let us know our places. In each group there was the best actor, in our group it was Justice who played Captain Drax Sparrow. The winning group overall was Grama Measles. The award for the best actor overall went to Amelia and I agreed she put on and amazing show and had something for everyone!
Soon after we packed up and it was time to head back to school. I enjoyed this trip as much as I did every other time we visited and, K.P.M.G has helped us a lot throught the year in many other school wide events. THANK YOU K.P.M.G, we had a great time!
