Scatter Graphs

Here is a little more on statistics. Scatter Graphs are usually and mostly used when comparing to Variables. It's similar to a line graph except those usually show the course that something takes usually over time. I'm getting better at statistics and one of the most important things I learnt today. Is that Statistics can never be for CERTAIN it's only probably, unlikely or likely kind of thing and one of those reasons is because data can be manipulated.

Parts Of The Atmosphere

Today we had Extension. Like in Team 5 we are also learning about the Atmosphere Biosphere Geosphere and Hydrosphere, but in more detail. Today we watched a series of videos and read some texts, to then answer this question. We talked to Mr Vogt about all the different ways parts of the atmosphere. It's all very intriguing, but here is a fraction of what I learnt.

Significant Statistics

Here is my Statistics Maths Create Task. We had to make Graphs about , our lockdown life. I enjoyed this but I had trouble finding a use for the different graphs. I did eventually get to using other graphs but as you can see the way I'm using it isn't exactly the best way to present it. I want to continue working on that and hopefully in future I'll be able to improve.

Which Graph?

This week we looked at more graphs and did more Statistics. This time we matched the right type of graph to the reason we'd use it. I don't think I did this completely right but, in my opinion I think I completed this task at a decent level. I liked this task, it was a good mind teaser and it really helped me think about what kind of graphs are best to use.

The Structure Of The Earth

Today we did some inquiry. This is an extra task, that we had the choice to do. It was basically an extra task that helped us memorise the layers of the Earth aka the Geosphere. It was a fun and easy task, and it did help me remember the layers.

The Geosphere

This term we are learning about the different parts of the world. We are learning what makes our planet sustainable for life and the different parts of it. Last week we learnt about the different stages of life, this week we learnt about the Geosphere which is the ground and everything beneath it.

I'm very well interesting in this topic. I don't know much about it since I never really had a reason to learn it. But I am very much enjoying it, and look forward to learning about the Hydro, Atmos and Bio-sphere.

Sugar ~Science~ Tech

This week we learnt about Sugar. Different types of Sugar and words that have something to do with Sugar. We also learnt some interesting facts about sugar. Most of them were things I already knew but it was fun to learn thing in more detail. I think it's pretty important that we balance out our sugar in take because to much sugar is never a good thing and can lead to a series of problems. Especially in a time like this when we would most likely try and treat our selves to fast food and candy.

Anzac Day

This year ANZAC day is going to be a bit different. It's one of the first years the dawn service and other ceremonies are going to be canceled. But we can still commemorate this day, by standing outside on our front drive way tomorrow at dawn. This is optional you can also do other things like make Anzac biscuits and get poppies.

Invention Of The Future

For this task we had to write a promotion about the a invention we designed for the future. It's something we think could be possible to make in 2057. I created the Sun-fly bike and you may have seen it in my previous posts. So basically this is the official advertisement if this thing becomes possible in the future.

Sun-Fly Bike (Labeled)

Here is my Invention, It's called a Sun-Fly Bike. I didn't label to much of this because everything else is just a normal motor bike. I did however label everything that made it special and life changing. So I labeled the Solar Panel just behind the seat. The wings, which aren't actually from bird just decorated like birds. And lastly the fact that there is no greenhouse gases  or anything being released from the bike.

Taha Whanau (Challenge)

Here a Taha Whanau Challenge. For this task we had to choose someone in our family and share 6 facts about them. I chose one out of my 2 sisters my older sister. She's the sibling share things with often. She's my best friend in the family, I guess it's because of our close age gap. Me and my older sister have a good social bond and it's always fun and games together.

Life in 2057

This week we learnt about crafting well written sentences. We looked at what we imagined the future will be like in 37 years time. We had to share 2-3 things we think will be possible in 2057 (THE FUTURE). Despite the fact that it's unpredictable, I think I can clearly say that technology will still play a big role in it. I enjoyed this task and can't wait to do more in the future!

Te Reo Maori (Conversations)

For this task we had to learn some Maori sentence, that we'd use in a conversations. We then had to make a comic strip and record ourselves speaking these sentences. I liked doing this task it was both fun and easy, and I probably will use these sentences in future. I can't wait to learn more!

Taha Tinana (Challenge)

Here is another Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge. This one is Taha Tinana physical wellness. Please don't judge my ability to do push ups, I was already pretty tired from the first three times I did this challenge but yeah. I hope you enjoy me failing to do push ups properly. It was fun either way so that was a good thing I guess.

Sunfly-Bike

Here is my writing for the week. It's based of what we did last week when we wrote about what life would be like in 2057. We had to include a few things we think will be found. I don't know what life will be like then, but I do know that it will probably be easier and technology would've have evolved rapidly.

For this task we had to draw/sketch 1 invention that we think will be found in the future. We then had to describe it in 2 words. After that we got to come up with 3 creative names for it. I found it to be a fun task it did also help me craft my sentence better. Looking forward to doing more and I hope you enjoyed!

Self Healing Sneaker

This week we learnt about grouping words. It's basically putting words together to form sentences. I enjoyed this task and I still have trouble with it but with some practice, I'm hoping to get better at it.  Along with that we also had to record ourselves reading the highlighted sentences once we had grouped the words together. The text was about self healing sneakers since we have been learning about the future.

Taha Hinengaro (Challenge)

This is another Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge for this challenge we had to write down 5-10 inspirational quotes. I did exactly that I then I put them in a box for my future self. They still remain in there and anytime I feel like I need inspiration encouragement or support, I know where to find it!

Line Graphs

Today for mather we looked at line graphs and they are usually used to track or present the change or course of something over time. We looked it how it's similar to a bar graph except it focuses on one particular thing instead of comparing different things. I like this task espacia

Taha Tinana (Challenge)

Here is another Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge. It wasn't my favourite and I wasn't able to do it in the video but I did end up being able to do it now. But in this video I have included all my failed attempts this is one of the hardest challenges in my opinion. I will however say that you'll be able to do it over time and some practice so, be patience.

We Are The World

This Term we are learning about the Earth. That's a very broad topic so I'm going to explain in detail what exactly we are learning about. So millions and billions of years ago the Earth started to form, there were different parts chemicals and stuff involved. Eventually the Earth came to be habitable and started to sustain life. There are different parts to sustaining life we are learning about the Earth's "spheres". The Atmosphere, Biosphere, Hydrosphere and Geosphere, and how they all play a role in sustaining life.

In this presentation about we learnt about the different stages and I quote "The 5 mile stones" which are important because it was those things that show the different stages the Earth went through before it was fully developed and safe to live on.

Life on Earth

This term our focus is space and our Earth and things like that. We are going to be looking at the Earths Atmosphere and what makes our planet habitable. Today we read an article about why our planet is livable on and or if there is another planet similar to ours, somewhere out there in space!

Pie Graphs

Today we did more in statistics we  learn about pie graphs. We learnt how it's easier to compare but they definitely have there cons. They can't hold large amount of data without being hard to read. And it's not possible to show hows accurate the data is based on how many people took the survey. This activity has definitely changed my opinion on pie graphs, in future I will definitely be mindful of things like this.

Bar Graphs

This week, we are continuing to do online learning, but it's officially the end of the Holidays. It's not a normal holiday as we are still at home, and doing things for school. But yeah, for this we task we had to look and read bar graphs. We also had to come up with conclusions and why we think the graph was like that. I enjoyed this task and look forward to growing my knowledge in statistics.

Taha Whanau (Challenge)

Here is another Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge. This one is Taha Whanau relationships and being socially well. A way we can do this is by playing a game, I played X and O's with my little sister. Here are three rounds of it, but in reality we played this for a while and ended up playing, ten rounds I think.

Taha Wairua (Challenge)

Here is another Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge. Taha Wairua is Spiritually wellness, we had to recite out pepeha after researching and finding it. I did a quick easy simple one, since my family doesn't have a specific mountain and stuff.

Zaeeda-ELJ-# Week 2 Day 5 (It's Good Friday)

Week 2 Day 5 (It's Good Friday)
Last day of doing the Easter learning journey, I have to say the first activity was really cool and I enjoyed it.  School starting in a few days and Isolation is still happening too, let's stay strong.

Activity 1: Hope
For this task we had to create a poster of 2 things we hoped for today.

Well I hope that school will start up again soon and we will still have most of our events on and I also hope that the lock down would end son. This is because isolation has made it really suffocating, and if you know me. You'd know that me and my family travel a LOT!

Extra Activity
For this task we had to imagine we could send a text to anyone in Glen Innes. We also had to choose 3 emojis to describe.

 👌   😜   🎨

If I could send a text to someone it would be Stay Home and Stay safe cause that's exactly what we need to do. And well there isn't much else we need to do other than practicing good hygiene.

This week was lots of fun and I can't wait for school to start up again, soon. S T A Y  S A F E and Stay Home!

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Week 2 Day 4 (Special time at Easter)

Week 2 Day 4 (Special time at Easter)
It's the second to last day of the ELJ, we have 2  tasks to complete today, so let's work hard. We may be in Isolation but I just wanted to say HAPPY EASTER!

Activity 1
The first activity required us to share what our family normally do during Easter. Share whether or not it's different from Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Usually me and my family wake up in the morning and have a big breakfast. This usually has something to do with chocolate pancakes and strawberries. My aunty makes the best pancakes every year with her homemade whipped cream. It's always delicious.

We then get ready pack some food, bucket/spades and sunscreen, because we were going to spend the whole day at the beach. There we'd meet some of our other relatives, there's usually 30-40 people there. It's was always a lot of fun at the beach we go swimming look for crabs and so much more.

But before we came home we have a HUGE picnic each family would have to bring something to share. We would arrive home late after watching the sunset, and after the somewhat tiring day the still hyper children would do an easter hunt. Thus letting us end the day playing, chatting and eating CHOCOLATE!

Activity 2
Document what you did in this year during Easter. It would've been a little bit different since isolation and everything is happening. Choose to share this in any form you want.

Here is what we are doing this Easter. It's not what we usually do, and It's nowhere near as fun as spending the day at the beach. But it's isolation and things are different so it's okay and definitely something, so I'm happy.

Taha Tinana (Challenge)

Here is today Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge. We had to play a game called Matimati. I enjoyed it, because it was fun and tested my reflexes. It's also really easy to play and you can do it anywhere.

I played with my little sister and well, it took a few tries before we even got close to being good. We're going to have to work hard playing this game, in order to get really good but for now it's okay.

Another reason this game is great is because it gets you moving during isolation. It also get you interacting more with some of the people in your bubble. However I don't think this would be a good game to play during social distancing.

Taha Hinengaro (Challenge)

Here is the last Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge. Sit in silence for a few minutes and record ourselves thinking and writing 5 things we are grateful for today. I chose Food, Family/Friends, School, Country and Technology, I think you can see why those things are important especially in the time we are currently going through.

Zaeeda-ELJ- #Week 2 Day 3 (Let's Start Traveling)

Week 2 day 3 (Let's Start Traveling)
We are 3 days into the second week. Let's start today activities we have 2 tasks to complete. It's also the last week of the holidays so starting next week we will be having online classes.

Activity 1
For this task we had imagine we were going to travel another country. We then had to create a travel guide for the country our family connects to.
Activity 2
For this task we had to think about if we were to go on the trip to the country. We then had to choose two people to take on the trip, with us.

Even though my family is made up of 5 people. If I choose 2 people to take on the trip with me. I'd take my mum and older sister.

Firstly my mother usually goes on the trips to Fiji, and when she does Zaria my younger sister gets taken. So if me and my older sister went we'd be able to see my one year old niece. It would be nice is me and my sister went and left my dad and Zaria behind.

I'd take my mum, because she lived in Fiji half her life. And if we did go, we would probably stay with my grandmother a.k.a my mother mum. It would also be nice for my mum to visit Fiji without having to go places, plan something and or be occupied with a job.

So that's why I would take those to people.

That concludes day 3 of week 2. I hope you enjoyed, I definitely did. I found this week a bit harder than last week, but I always love a challenge so this was fun.

Taha Whanau (Challenge)

Here is the third Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge. It's the Taha Whanau, social wellness. We had to make a memory poster about the oldest person in our family. I did my grandmother who was very sick last year in October, but now is feeling way better. She doesn't live with me but she is one of the oldest people in my family. I enjoyed this task I got to do a little catching up and got her to help me with my task.

Zaeeda-ELJ- #Week 2 Day 2 (Family Capital)

Week 2 day 2
We are still in isolation and but we are on the second to last week of isolation, so let stay strong and keep going. Also we have 3 tasks to complete so let's do it.

Activity 1
The first task required us to list the countries out family related to, for me it's Fiji. We then had to research that country, so the population official language and flag.

Activity 2: Family Capital

For this task we had to use our whakapapa from yesterday and create a map of the countries our family are connected to.
Here is my family capital, which is Fiji. This is because most of my family that goes back around 15 generations in Fiji. But me, my siblings and, my cousins are born here in Auckland, New Zealand.

Taha Wairua (Challenge)

Here is the third Te Whare Tapa Wha Challenge. We had share and explain and important quote bible verse or prayer. I shared a quote. Here is my video explaining the quote which is "Love life everyday, everywhere and every second of it".

Zaeeda-ELJ- #Week 2 Day 1 (Whakapapa)

Day:1
Week:2
Welcome back to the second and last week of the summer learning journey. Isolation is still happening and will be for another 2 weeks but let's make this work and try and have some fun!

Activities: Family Tree
For this task we had to make a family tree. We can expand our tree to include our siblings and our parents siblings. After we had completed the tree, we had to fill in the names and places we then had to write the culture of that person.

Here is my family tree, it includes my maternal and paternal grand-parents. I also included my mum and dads siblings. I have 2 uncles on my mothers side. My dad side has around 12 siblings, as he has a 2 step families, so I included the ones see more often. At the bottom you have me and my siblings. And as you can see my whole family is made up of Fiji Indians, but the wife of my uncle Albert is Samoan.

That brings us to an end of this week. I enjoyed this task and it happens to be the biggest family tree I've made, I usually just stick to my grand-parents, parents and siblings.

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Day 5 (It's Friday)

Day: 5 (It's Friday)
Well we've officially finished a week of the summer learning journey and there is only one more week

Activity
For this task we had to find three different quotes from our family that we found helpful. We then had to share and explain these quotes on our blog.

The first quote is based on us facing Corona virus, it's about how this is a tough challenge. And we have been faced with this challenge because it is believed that we can overcome it. It also mildly relates to how we should stick together and get through this together.

This one isn't as poet is the last one. But I found that it was quote emotional. It's basically means it's okay to show you are scared as long as you are able to somewhat work through it. My little sister was the one that actually said this, and it wasn't even to one of our family members it was to one of her toys.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this one before. My mum probably read it in a magazine or something, because this one seems familiar. I guess it's about seeing the silver line in any situation and that we'll be okay soon.

Extra Activity
For this activity we had to come up with a text that we would send to everybody in New Zealand, right now.

Here is my text, it's not to long. But I hope that it will help some New Zealanders have comfort.

Especially since we have to be apart, sending something somewhat heart-warming will hopefully keep us together. At a time like this anything is good, and should be done. Also I already have said this to most of the people and I just want you guys to stay safe take care and wash your hands!

Taha Hinengaro (Challenge)

Here is a second Te Whare Tapa Wha challenge. This video is just a few minutes of me meditating.
Taha Hinengaro is about spiritual Wellness so meditating if good for you in many ways. My sister wanted to take part in this, so ENJOY!

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Day 4 (Back Home For A Moment)

Day: 4 (Back Home For A Moment)
Here is day 4 I enjoyed doing it. I did struggle with getting the exact length and width measurement of my house, but I did get it eventually. This task was fun to do cause it really made me look at ways that different houses and buildings can be improved to and not just my house.

Wednesday, 1 April 2020

Taha Tinana (Challenge)

Our teachers decided to give us different way to continue learning about our term wide focus during the holidays. Everyday they are going to give us a challenge, to do with Te Whare Tapa Wha. This one is about Taha Tinana, we had to do ten push ups. Don't judge me because I have ZERO upper body strength, so yeah.

Zaeeda-ELJ-#Day 3 (Let's Start Traveling)

Day: 3 (Let's Start Traveling)
Day 3 has arrived we have 2 activities to complete so let's try our best to complete them!

Activity 1
For this activity we have learn about Tane Mahuta, Rangitoto island and Karekare. We then had to pinpoint where three of the different destinations are, on a map.

Activity 2
After that we had to choose our favourite destination and post on our blog why we enjoyed visiting that place, and what we did there.

My favourite out of the three destination is Rangitoto Island. It looks amazing in the pictures and being in a city surrounded by 50 volcanoes. Rangitoto being the biggest and youngest of them all. It's also close to the city and on an island.

That brings us to an end of day 3. Today was fun and I liked the first activity it was really fun. I'm really enjoying these next 2 weeks, I can't wait to do more. HAPPY APRIL FOOLS AND FIRST OF APRIL!
